Every year on September 21st, the International Day of Peace is celebrated around the world. It’s a reminder that peace isn’t just the absence of conflict, but something we actively build in our daily lives, in the way we treat ourselves, our neighbors, our communities, and the planet. Small gestures of kindness, understanding, and cooperation add up, like stitches in a fabric, creating something stronger and more beautiful together.
This year’s theme for the International Day of Peace is Act Now for a Peaceful World. It’s a call to remind us that peace isn’t something abstract or far away: it’s built through our daily choices and actions. From standing up against unkindness, to listening to voices different from our own, to volunteering in our communities, each of us can play a part.
This year, several postal administrations joined forces to celebrate peace in a very tangible way: through a special embroidered postage stamp. The “Dove of Peace” stamp is literally stitched out of thread by the Austrian embroidery house Hämmerle & Vogel, and features a dove carrying an olive branch. It’s being issued jointly by postal services from Åland, Armenia, Austria, Barbados, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and the three offices of the United Nations.
More than just a philatelic novelty, the embroidered Dove of Peace stamp is meant as a symbol and a commitment. Like embroidery, peace requires patience, daily effort, and care. And through the vast network of the postal system, this little dove can fly around the world carrying its message of hope and unity.
To celebrate this initiative and World Peace Day, Austria Post and Liechtenstein Post have kindly offered us 20 of these embroidered stamps to give away (10 from each country).
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment below sharing a small act of kindness or gesture of peace that has brightened your day recently. Comments will be opened until October 5, at which point we’ll draw 20 winners at random and have one of these special stamps mailed to them.
On this World Peace Day (and every day!), may our small acts of kindness and connection (like a postcard, a smile, or a shared story) add up to something bigger!
And the winners of this giveaway, as chosen by Paulo’s random number generator are… bookmeg, Mokidale, chen_snailmail, LarisaCox, Maestla, AnMiSa, trickykid1, Gan_Gan, blueridge_snail, Natea, Briareos, cyberfairy, jihi, Rhoda, GabberGabs, jasminen25, radiofan, Tuermerin, CCarlsen and Kimbuhlayyyy! Congratulations, and thank you all for participating!

Hope the world peace!
This is wonderful, and a reminder of one of the most important shared tenets worldwide: a goal of peace.
I received a postcard yesterday from Jeff Weiss, who, in an interview with his local paper, said, “ When I receive a postcard, I know that the sender sat down and wrote it with intention, with me in mind. The paper, stamps and ink are physical manifestations of their gift of time,” he said. “It’s a sense of connection, however fleeting and random.”
That connection sows peace…one postcard at a time.
Last week my mailman rang the doorbell to deliver a larger postcard. He said he didn't want to force it into the mailbox to not damage it. I thought that was really kind of him, considering I've aready had postcards damaged for that same reason.
Oh I forgot to add that I wish the U.S. had joined to support this project!
My electric coffee grinder broke down this morning and my husband spent quite some time manually grinding coffee beans for my morning coffee using a glass jar and a glass as mortar and pestle. :-)
Recently a friend has given me a batch of new stamps to use for postcrossing.
I hope people all over the world can live a peaceful life. I also hope the concept of peace can reach more regions.
Last week I was trying to buy 2 books at a store, but I realized I had forgotten my wallet in my car. I rushed to my car, and when I came back inside, the cashier said that the person who had been behind me in line paid for my books. I thought that was so kind! I wish I could have said thank you to them, but they had already driven away. :,) Thank you for the giveaway!
A friend sent me a beautiful card from a local artist and included some stamps from his collection that relate to topics I collect. It really brightened what had been a not-so-great day up to that point :)
I’m working part-time in a supermarket and there’s a customer who always buys a little snack or something to drink for the employees when he does his shopping! It brightens up my shift everytime he comes by :)
I always think it is so kind when recipients of my cards register with a note to me that is more than just "thanks for the card". The last two that were registered were very thoughtful in their messages to me and their words really made my day!
In the postcard I received recently, the British girl sent me a tea bag and a scone recipe. It made me feel great for a week.
I want people all over the world to be peaceful.
I had some health issues lately, to the point where I suspected I might end up in the hospital again. That would kind of get in the way of a beautiful artistic project I have been fortunate to be part of. I let a dear friend/my soul brother know about this and he called me immediately. Hearing his voice was so heartwarming and only solidified what I already know, how caring, understanding human being he is...
What a poignant article with such a beautiful message! The dove stamp is gorgeous. May we all endeavor to be kind to one another and to spread peace, all over the world. :)
This is such a nice thing, lovely to read everyone else s stories!
A colleague noticed that I was having a tricky day and left a chocolate bar on my desk for me.
Kindness is everywhere these days. We are hosting someone escaping a bad place in our apartment, rent free. Neighbors are sharing garden abundance with us. We share extra food with neighbors and friends.
I donate decants of indie nail polish to a mental health organization, and hearing how it's helped people open up, or be able to care for themselves in a way not usually open to them, really made my heart feel full <3
Kindness is a good thing - you never know who you may uplift through a simple act of kindness. Some examples: Recently a fellow postcrosser I know from a few meetings and a Facebook group we are members of sent me an unsolicited card - just to say hi! It meant so much to me! I also have neighbors who are foodsharers - once in a while, on a Sunday or holiday, they leave baked goods at doorsteps throughout our building - including mine. It's just wonderful. When I go for coffee with someone, I love surprising them by picking up the tab for their coffee.
About two months ago, I was travelling in another city and my phone slipped out of my pocket when I got out of an uber. I was so frustrated and helpless at the moment I found out. To my most surprise, the uber driver returned to my drop-off place in a very short time! The next passenger saw my phone on the seat and they were so kind to take extra time to send it back. This literally saved my life.
I got a batch of blank postcards from one of my aunts, she didn't need them.
Today I joined in a meditation group with members of my spiritual community and their words about courage and hope felt uplifting and nourishing, and was much needed.
Being in community with others with shared values and kindness and compassion really filled my heart with love and gratitude this morning. It really brightened my day.
Lovely stamp! As an embroiderer, I'm always happy to see stitchery in the spotlight :)
We get most of our veggies from an organic farm at the local university. Recently the farmers scaled back one week's share so they could provide more crops to students at a mini farmer's market they do, which provides them good food at really affordable prices. It's so kind that they go to such lengths to supply them at the start of the year!
I gradually do pregnancy announcements to my closed ones, and everyone is so kind and positive to me 🥹
As a US citizen the concept of peace feels impossible most days. But I have hope that we will get through this time of turmoil. I love this community and I find so much joy in meeting each and every person. I get thank you cards from RAC contacts that I’ve sent cards too and knowing that they took that time to reach out to me… is such a great way to spread peace, hope and love in this world. Thank you for this chance to win.
A neighbor's son who likes to garden gave me a bunch of delicious cilantro he'd grown. I've been using a little every day and appreciating the effort he put into growing it and the kindness he showed in sharing it.
I was recently invited to dinner by a lovely woman, who asked me about the kinds of food I can and cannot eat so that she could accommodate me. My religion prohibits a LOT of things, and as I listed them out I felt bad about just how many things there were that I couldn’t eat, so I apologized for the inconvenience I was potentially causing. She told me “I can learn more about your religion and culture by knowing what you can’t eat. Thank you for teaching me about your culture and helping me grow.” That was the kindest possible answer anyone could have given me, and it made me feel so much better about myself and my needs. Living in such a different country is difficult, but it’s lovely people like this that make it so worth going out of your comfort zone!
On holiday in Devon with my girlfriend and her mother - a friend who is vaguely local insisted on taking time out from their day and personally collecting us from the station to give us the full guided tour of the area on the way to our accommodation 😊
Lately, I kept receiving mail meant for a fellow post crosser from my city. I took the time to redirect each piece and make sure it reached them safely. It was a small effort, but knowing their postcards got to the right hands really brightened my day.
Recently, I shared a good story in a local group. A mother took her child to Costco. The child wanted to buy a toy but the family refused, so the child started crying. The Costco clerk did not get angry at the child for crying, but encouraged the child and gave him a hug, which made him stop crying and go home happily. This will help more customers understand the concept of tolerance and respect.
A smile from a stranger you pass by on the street no matter their religion, country of origine is in my point of view a tiny gesture or peace and makes me smile also
Sadly I don't forsee World Peace anytime soon. I really hope I am wrong, that would be a great thing. Could this be because the peaceful people on this Earth don't step forward more ?
i work in a store and a few weeks ago I received a package in the mail from a customer of the store that had a stamp, a bookmark and blank postcards from the Portuguese island where she has a house. As she knows I like PostCrossing, she sent me the gift, I was so surprised and thankful that she notice what I like and took time to prepare the gifs and send it💕
Reading these stories of kindness and thoughtfulness gives me hope during this time of unease and unrest.
Very beautiful!!
Let's hope for world peace very soon!
Little gestures of kindness are everywhere. From our neighbours, for instance. We have a neighbour who every now and then bake us some sweets. And they taste really good!
Today I've seen so many people give up their seats on the train for others, just because. ❤️
Today, I shared a few books in a little free library and am assembling items to donate to a favored charity shop tomorrow.
Love that stamp 🕊️!I love postcrossing but I’m fully housebound and have been for the past 2 years. It means I can’t get to the postbox but parents friends and carers are always so kind and post my mail for me 🥰
The second week of the school year I received the kindness message. It was juat what I needed to brighten my day. The message was heartfelt and warm. Because the author missed a friend in Germany they also shared their friends favorite chocolate. I then shared the treat with everyone around me anl9ng with the message. Receiving mail is a gift all in it self. Sharing messages with thought and kindness can change a person one read at a time.
Thank you and Happy Postcrossing!
Peace around the world, so that we may never experience the horrors of war
A neighbor said good morning as they walked by. It's a simple thing, but it made me feel connected.
Peace shall spared like a infection
Marienda/Helga
It's so nice to read through these many acts of kindness! I'm hoping for more peace in the world.
What a beautiful initiative! An act of kindness that meant a lot to me recently was when I was working during a heatwave, I was delivering mail and one of the people living on my route offered me a cold bottle of water from their fridge since my bottle had become lukewarm by that time. It was just a bottle of water but it meant so much!
What a lovely stamp! Just a few moments ago, I saw a video on Reddit about a woman feeding street cats. There were around ten of them, each with its own small paper plate. A simple yet touching scene.
The other day, an old friend of mine sent me just a peace sign emoji, without a single word. We had been distant for a long time. That tiny gesture was louder than all the silence, and we both knew in that moment the conflict was over. 🕊️🕊️🤍
I wish all of us on this tiny little planet to have a day of peace.
It is so beautiful. I would be proud to have it. So much conflict here and around the world.
I'm a teacher, and my students are four years old. The group I currently have in my class is made up of sweet, kind little people who care for and help each other. I'm currently on sick leave, waiting to begin radiation therapy. Since the school is very close to my house, I stopped by a few days ago to say hello to my coworkers and "my kids." The hugs from my students, and especially the concern of one of the girls ("you're sick, you should go home and rest"), brightened my day and touched my heart.
On this special day, we received at home magnets with our vacation photos! Beautiful moments, full of smiles!
Smiles that should be seen all over the world... a world where peace reigns everywhere and everyone can give a smile to others.

At home we had an art print of Picassos peace dove - I did love the bird I called it as a kid and my dad explained me the meaning of the peace dove. Just had to think about it when I saw this adorable stamp and brought me back to such wonderful meaningful moment in life - tiny treasures in my heart.
I try to send a little happiness to people in care institutions by send cards, letters and postcards through an online group called Letters Against Isolation.
I was given a beautiful silver First Nations pendant of a "peace bird". I have been wearing it as much as possible lately, wanting to give wing to the energy it carries.
When I joined Postcrossing I decided I would close all of my postcards with the signature "Peace to you." I am always heartened when the recipient then includes "peace" in their thank you response! No matter who we are or where we're sending from or to, we can all send peace around our world, as if braiding the globe in our good wishes of hope.
My moment of peace is when I receive a postcard, when I drink a new flavor of tea, rainy days, the aroma of fresh coffee in the morning, the drops of dew in the early morning.
I found a bundle of postcards in a public book case. I bring books to the case from time to time and this time noticed that someone put the cards in there to give them away. 20 postcards, all unwritten, from his holidays, I think. It was so unexpected and I was so happy for a much longer time than just that moment, looked at them and felt joy. Thanks to the unknown giver.
Sending peace and unity one postcard at a time. How I have signed most of my postcards. Love this!
I wish to free Palestine on this International Day of Peace, hoping for justice, dignity, and freedom for all people living there. May peace replace suffering and may humanity stand united against oppression.
A gesture of peace that has brightened my day recently was the ability to attend an Indigenous blessing for a new space that my office recently moved into. It was an honour to be present, witness the cedar brushing and to learn from the Elder that provided the blessing.
A student of mine has just written a note to me, thanking me, that my compliments for her work have been so incredibly important to her and do still have a positive impact on her. It brought tears to my eyes.
I'm really enjoying the feeling of anticipation of receiving "happy" mail. It's great to connect with people from around the world. I'm so glad that I found this site.
My artist neighbor gifted me a set of Georgia O'Keefe postcards (30) to share with this community. A future moment of peace for 30 Postcrossers.
My 3 year old brought me tiny bundles of flowers while we were at the park yesterday. By the way, his middle name Callum means dove, the bird of peace.
Today my husband returned home from visiting with his daughter. She and her husband had taken a trip to Greece last year and remembering my love of postcards, bought me some from Greece. I was quite touched, as it is the land of some of my ancestors yet I will never visit. I look forward to sharing these with Postcrossers. I hope to receive one of these beautiful stamps on postcards. I collect Peace Dove stamps: they are beautiful all together, like people when they set their hearts on justice and peace.
I want there to be peace in the world.
My grandchildren wait for the postman to bring them postcards every day. They are happy when he comes.
I occasionally pick up litter in our neighborhood with a group of neighbors. When I passed an elderly woman with a walker, I received a compliment and she wanted to give me a hug. I told her I didn't really feel clean with my old clothes, gloves, garbage bag, and litter picker. She didn't care, she said. I felt so appreciated that she thought I was making the world a little more beautiful this way. I still feel happy about it now.
ive been incredibly sick for the past few weeks but i still try to show up for work when i can. something that always brightens my day is when the little ones (i'm a kindergarten teacher) run up to me to hug me and tell me they missed me. one of my kids even pointed out my photo in the hallway ( we have a wall showcasing all of our staff) and told me he thinks mine is the prettiest. i don't know why, but stuff like that, the honesty and love and kindness from children really fulfills me.
Yes to world peace! - To doing kind things every day.
We promoted Postcrossing at Hobbies Fair, and were sponsoring cards. Some sellers at the Fair kindly donated their wares (art they were selling as cards) for us to give away ☺️
Vrede op aarde en begin met jezelf!
peace and love are our common goal
Recently received a card from a soldier in Ukraine....his message was that postcards make days brighter.....
dreaming of peace onnthe whole world. what gives a little hope to me is when strangers smile back on the street
Yesterday as my elderly mother who uses a walker and I were leaving her doctor's office, one of the other patients in the waiting room noticed we were getting ready to leave. He walked over to the front door and kindly opened it and held it for us as we exited. This may seem like a small gesture, but it really made our day because oftentimes no one helps us and I'm concerned that my mother is going to trip on the doormat as she goes through the doorway. This way, I was able to stay with her (instead of going ahead of her to open and hold the door) and make sure that she didn't fall.
The other day my manager Molly could see that I had lots to do and not enough time, so she helped me by clearing our Merchandise Picking Trolleys of cardboard and rubbish saving me about 20 minutes.
It is so nice to read all the wonderful stories! Since WPD is approaching, I have been sending out the original card early and have received several thank-you cards back in return...made my day, because our community here at Postcrossing appreciate the senders! My motto has been..do something for others everyday!
People are so kind and I try to repay it whenever I can. This morning, the manager of my local pet store gave me quite a lot of nearly expired cat food and samples to help with my rescues.
Wir bekommen von unserer Vermieterin jedes 2. Wochenende einen selbstgebackenen kleinen leckeren Kuchen oder Torte. Einfach nur so.
Hello from the USA 🇺🇸. I try to volunteer as much as I can and yesterday did a beach clean up. Helping animals and our environment!
On our recent trip to Yellowstone NP, we sat next to a woman traveling with her sister and brother, waiting for the next eruption of Old Faithful. She and I made small talk and I learned that she had made all the arrangements to bring her siblings there, especially her older sister who had wished to return since she had visited 60 years ago as a young girl. I thought at the time this was definitely a labor of love, driving from California to Texas then flying to Montana with her siblings. She turned back to talk to her family, and I did the same with my husband. Then I was aware she was talking to me again and realized she was offering me a stick of gum. As silly as it seems, that unexpected small gesture was so meaningful to me coming from a stranger whom I had just met. It stayed with me for days afterwards...the impact of small kindnesses like a stick of gum.
The ladies (and our kids) go every other month to Cherokee Children's Home to visit with the girls there, enjoy lunch, make a craft and have a devotional. But this time, the men and boys in our youth group went! I think they were a little nervous, but did a wonderful job encouraging these young boys. Building a strong community and young adults is such a good work.
My best friend drove me to the airport at 3:00 in the morning so I could be at the airrport right on time for my early morning flight at 6 o'clock. So sweet.
I Love You. ❤️
What a beautiful stamp and love the thought behind it. I came in with my hands full of groceries last week and hours later my neighbor noticed my garage door was open. He rang my bell to tell me.
Beautiful stamps with such an important message 🥰
When ordering in an online shop, the sender put some candy inside the package with my order. It is just a small gesture, but it still brightened my day
I like small pieces of peace and kindness, like carrying an old man’s suitcase up the train’s stairs. It can inspire all of us to do something similar!
Sending and receiving postcards can help us get closer together and let us understand other cultures - a big part of achieving peace <3
My wife and I had the privilege of giving a presentation to our local stamp club about Postcrossing, a topic they hadn't heard about. Afterwards, one of the gentlemen approached us to tell us that his daughter is an elementary school teacher. He texted her during out presentation when we talked about our happiness to draw a teacher's address and the classrooms participating in Postcrossing to learn geography, mail systems and the joy of receiving mail. It meant so much to us that he shared this wonderful hobby with someone who can teach children about sharing joy and a bit of peace through the simple act of writing a post card. It was a good day.
I’ve always thought when Pandora opened the box and let out all the nasties of the world and left HOPE in the box she should have reversed that. I know my hope is locked away in some long gone box so I have no hope for peace. I believe Humans aren’t capable of peace nationally or globally. But individually we are very capable of extraordinary acts of kindness towards one another. We must see each and every one on the earth as an individual! Yes, John Lennon, we need to pleeeeese give peace a chance!📦 Hope inside.
When my cousin's husband got to know, that I can't receive cards from the countries that don't mail to Russia, he offered to be my intermediator and has already mailed to me cards from the USA, Canada, and Australia several times. I am very grateful to him and to the Postcrossing members who agreed to this variant, as they have to wait a long time for the cards to reach me.
I find Postcrossers to be some of the kindest people in the world!!
Each week, I visite my neighbour, she is 87 y.o. and her husband, 90 y.o. is very ill. Yesterday when I leaved her, she told me that she was happy to know me. It warmed my heart! My visits are such a very little thing but I see that it's important for her. Thank you for the lottery and Happy Postcrossing. May Peace come on Earth.
A new friend agreed to exchange artwork through mail, despite the fact our two gome nations are practically in a cold war with eachother, there's so much connection to be made through art
This stamp is soo special and beautiful! I am really sorry, that Germany did not join the Cooperation!
Acts of kindness: Yesterday we visited a town festivity with different offers in the street. One offer was to create your own postcard with Materials they provided - but not only that… they even sent them out for us!
We recently got some fruits for making jam from different people, because we have no trees on our own.
Just before reading this blog I read an email from a work collegue, which made me angry, but I really tried to answer in a call way so not to push a conflict. 🙂
Thank You for the Chance to get one of these stamps, and for reading all these nice situations of kindness.
This act of kindness didnt involve me but I witnessed it. We are visiting Paris and stopped quickly for takeout before catching our bus. I saw a homeless person go to the counter and ask for food and they did not acknowledge him. Another patron lady went over to the kiosk, ordered a meal and when the number was called the lady gave the homeless man the ticket and said "it's for you". A simple act of kindness! Made me feel warm and fuzzy just to witness that gesture.
This last few months I have been doing some Bible studies through the mail! I read the scriptures to respond to and send off my note to my chosen partner (who is often a Postcrosser:) Much of the time I receive an added blank postcard along with other fun things. We now check in with each other in between studies. The correspondence is lovely! Postcrossing has blessed my life so much and now I’ve found an additional way to share with others! Mail is such a simple way to make others smile!
2025 is a particularly special year to remember World Peace, there is so much negativity and conflict everywhere you look, it’s quite disheartening
I’m very proud that my small nation of Luxembourg is one of the countries that participated in the join issue of the Dove of Peace, I actually went to the philatelic bureau on Friday to get one of these stamps and FDC
A recent act of kindness that stands out to me is we were on holidays not long ago in Spain and an older lady on a bike just took the corner badly and fell off her bike. All the people who were nearly rushed to help her get up and gather her belongings that had fallen off and scattered. I don’t speak Spanish but it certainly sounded like a number of people were asking how she was doing and if she needed any further help.
I write postcards to voters to try to bring peace back to the USA one vote at a time. It is hard right now to see how embarrassing my country is being represented by a person that puts greed above peace. It heals my heart a little whenever I see one other person hope for peace in person or through postcrossing.
My friends knew I was devastated when my husband & I seperated. Three of my artist friends got together & drew me amazing, personalized photos for my wall. It was a huge surprise when they came in the mail. I happy cried for an hour straight. Everytime I look at my wall I'm reminded how lucky & supported I am.
We had a team day outside of work on Friday and one of my colleagues bought my lunch for me which I had forgotten at work. That was really nice of her! It would have spoiled over the weekend, and I had something to eat during the day. <3
Peace in heart due to yoga
Peace in mind due to postcards
Peace on Earth due to human kind (why not?)
I know this is not my act of kindness but my mum runs (and plays in) a brass group called Play It Forward. She does this to raise money for lots of charities (she and the brass group don't ask for any money for themselves) and has raised over £40,000 for different charities so far.
The fact today Canada, Australia and UK has Recognized Palestinian statehood had made my day.Wishing all the peace the people of Palestine deserve! 🇵🇸
I mentioned in my profile that I’m interested in stamps, and I recently received a postcard with some extras on it. Out of curiosity, I looked up the stamps and was surprised to find out they’re quite valuable. It was super kind of this user to share these with me. ☺️ Hope to be able to spread the same joy receiving postcards brings to me to others.
Last friday I got a big hug from a man for our volenteer work at the foodbank. I realise that a for me little thing have so much impact. Not only the food we give, but more that we see them.
This is an awesome stamp! Would love to buy one. Remember to spread kindness like confetti. 💜💙❤️
Palestine being recognized as an independent state by some countries may lead to lasting peace - one can only hope.
Yesterday, a girl I know from middle school (over a decade ago) reached out and we chatted a bit about old days. She said she found me inspiring because I pursued my dream field, which was quite nice to hear since I’m struggling a bit… It was nice that she went out of her way to express positive thoughts and feelings towards someone who she hasn’t talked to in a while. I think many feel like doing such things but find that it might be awkward or unnecessary, while the truth is that we all need a pick-up sometime.
I have send some postcards for the coming Christmas to the Ukrainians soldiers. And I am dreaming of peace every day. Give Peace a Chance by John Lennon. :D
Peace as you and I wish ,to make the world a better place to live .
It is not only Austria, Swiss Post (where Liechtenstein belongs to) also sells these ones. I just bought one :) and looking forward to it.
On this World day of peace, which is coincidently Leonard Cohen's birthday, I started collecting materials for a collage with scraps of lyrics from his song "Anthem" which feels so topical these days.
The dove is a beautiful animal to represent peace.
And I think the turtle would also be a fitting animal to represent peace.
While war starts quickly and spreads easily like a fire, peace is slow to come, stopping conflicts and repairing damage, like a turtle...
Despite everything, peace marches determinedly toward its goal, even if it means taking winding paths instead of a straight line, and it can take years...
But let's be optimistic, let's believe in peace, that impertinent turtle that isn't afraid to face war.
And let's imagine ourselves walking slowly but surely, with a dove as light as a feather perched on its shell.
🐢☮️🕊️💪
I try to send a note or card to someone every day. You never know when it will be the highlight of someone's day! Certainly no one ever complains about receiving snail mail!

These are the weeks of :" De grote club actie" in the Netherlands. You buy some tickets from Children. The money goes to support their club. Music / Sport / Art. So kids can keep up these activities. As a Teacher I try to spot the shy Kids and help them sell their Tickets.
I was able to write a wonderful good moral character letter for my longtime neighbor and friend for her application for U.S. citizenship.
I wish the US had joined the stamp issue! Such a beautiful piece of art. My neighbor's cat made me happy today because he stopped hissing at me! :)
Happy World Peace Day
This summer, a friend of mine went to Amsterdam before starting a 100-mile military ruck walk just north of the city. We visited Amsterdam in the spring, so ahead of her trip we caught up on the phone. I gave her highlights from our trip, lists of places to see, and food to eat. I told her in passing about how much I regretted not buying the blank Anne Frank journal at the Anne Frank House. Shortly after she returned home, I received a package in the mail—inside was the journal wrapped in a paper bag from the Anne Frank House (she also remembered I love ephemera). I was completely surprised and so touched by her thoughtfulness.
A friend of mine knew one been struggling financially lately and put off the blue venmoed me $25. It's small acts of kindness like this that help communities remain afloat! This pertain has always been dear to me, but it's no nice knowing they listen and they care.
When I work at our supermarket, I help the elderly, and even if they are rude to me, I treat them with respect, knowing that there must be a reason for it.
I enrolled in university after a long career. I am a mature student in a sea of youths! A few days later, young lady that I sat beside in one tutorial noticed me in the hallway, called me by name and said hi! She wasn’t embarrassed and I felt a little less out of place that moment. We can help foster peace by making connections with people that we may not normally associate with.
A couple days ago I walked into the post office and had to go to the counter to get an envelope weighed. Walking into the space there was a gentleman completing filling out a form. He should have been next to step up to the counter. However with his outstretched arm he ushered me in front of him. A lesson in kindness and the joy of slowing down.
Earlier this summer, I was spending time with my best friend's family and friends at a Waterpark. At one point, I was looking after one of the kids (not related to me) who wanted to ride the water slides with me. I was more than twice her age so I was touched that she thought I was cool and fun to spend time with. At one point she said that, "You are so nice, why are you so nice" and it got me thinking. There would be more peace and love in the world if we all took more time to be kind and understanding. So, I told the little girl, "Life is short and I would rather be nice, and a little bit of kindness makes the world a better place." The little girl seemed happy with my response. It's easy to be mean and to not care, but to go out of your way to be kind and understanding that takes effort the best kind of effort! This positive effort will make you feel lighter and free!!! A little bit of kindness and understanding makes the world a better place!!!
My little dog Nelli, the only family member I live with, was about to die several times during August. I had to spent all my money and take loans (totally more than 5000 euros) to pay all the treatments needed. I'm on my early pension because of several illnesses. Lovely people have helped me by collecting more than 2000 euros to help me. That's what Love is. Helping others. 💕 I'm so Thankful 🙏🏼
How cool!
Recently, I got a compliment on a shirt I was wearing in public by a stranger and it made my day. I have been feeling pretty down about myself so that was a nice feeling of a small kind connection :)
I love the stamp and message 🕊️
I’m mostly housebound but my mum specially drives my postcards to the local post office so they get off to a good start 🥰 I’m very lucky ❤️
Today I opened the Postcrossing Blog site and was "greeted" with the beautiful, embroidered DOVE stamp along with the heartwarming kindness stories from fellow Postcrossers.
It reminded me that I may not have taken time from my own "busy-ness" at home to share an extra kind word to members of my own family, or to my neighbors. And I often fail to take a quiet (peaceful) moment to reflect on what is really important in Life.
It's so simple. Peace (and Kindness) begins at Home -- it radiates from there (like the Dove of Peace or our friendly postcard greetings) to all corners of the World.
So, I kindly send this thought on to you and wish you Peace, Joy, & Love on this International Day of Peace, and Always.
I received a surprise birthday package with an uplifting handmade mini canvas inside from Postcrosser kristinape. This year has been especially difficult and this surprise made my day!
I made a new friend thru postcrossing who lives in Ukraine. With the worlds tragedies, this new budding friendship has extra special meaning to me. I sent off an envelope of some goodies that will hopefully give a little brightness in what might be dark days. I have never been through something like this in my own country, so if I can do something so simple, it is worth it.
Peace be with you!
What a beautiful stamp!! 🕊️
I became fast friends with a dear Postcrosser at my very first meet-up in July. She recently sent me an envelope of WPD postcards for me to send on Oct 1! 🤗
The stamps looks beautiful! :)
Last week I forgot to bring money to buy lunch when I went to school, and a stranger lent me some money. We became friends and agreed to meet again tomorrow. (ʘᴗʘ✿)
很喜欢Beyond的《amani》,希望世界和平相处,愿孩子们、战士们无需饱受战争
Sending out good vibes for world peace! Hope our differences can bring us together.
Tomorrow I will be working with a local group to make quilts that will be sent all over the world to help people in need stay warm. I work on this project twice a month with my group.
Peace should be distributed in piece to every country in the world
That is so beautiful! And its message is sorely needed.
What an amazing stamp! It seems a perfect way to send a message of Peace around the world!
This place stamp is beautiful. We recently lost a great man of God and leave on our country. What an amazing tribute this would be.
“Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.” - Dalai Lama
Love this! A small act of kindnes/peace that brightened my day recently: My brother recently started college on the other side of the country. I have been sending him postcards every week or so just as a way to stay connected.
We had a video call a few days ago, and he showed me his cork board where he has kept all the postcards I have sent him so far. It warmed my heart :)
I had a long day yesterday and had to go to work today. I was tired and not very happy to be there, but a friend came to visit for a few minutes and brought me treats. It made the rest of the day much better.
I'm still new with Postcrossing but I already talked to amazing and kindest people. There's one I've connected with and used to live in the Philippines and offered me some of her card stash and stamp to help build my collection. She mentioned that she usually does this to those who are new on this hobby since she knows how hard to start one. I felt like she was too kind doing this to someone she doesn't know. I sent back a card to thank her and hopefully I can pass the kindness forward too :)
Was having a rough day recently and on the way home from the store realized I was in the wrong lane (turning). The person next to me instantly let me in, saving me an extra 10 minutes of driving home. Very small act, but made my day that much better :)
Recently someone sent me some extra small denomination stamps for me to use for postcrossing, knowing that I use them!
Today is my youngest granddaughters 8th birthday. Her sister(13) spent hours yesterday baking dozens of cupcakes. We had a small party in a neighborhood park. Less people showed up because of the 88 degree F heat so we had lots of leftover cupcakes. After the guests left the girls walked around and gave cupcakes to random people in the park including a couple of homeless men who told them they hadn't had a cupcake in many years. I feel blessed that I raised my daughters right and double blessed that now they are raising their daughters right. Love all my girls!!
I have recently joined Postcrossing, and received my first postcard! It brightened my day. I wish for everyone peace and kindness.
Happy International Day of Peace to the Postcrossing community. The very essence of Postcrossing is communication, interconnections and exchanges wich all of those lead to peace. Ten years of pure joy. I LOVE so much to send envelopps with cards (3-4) on wich I wrote. I LOVE to find the perfect cards to send to those I picked their profil. I always prefer to SEND instead of receive... but today I had a big big moment of pure happinness opening an envelopp from Cindy in Australia. I am a music lover and rare are rock's cards but there is one collection Maxicards from Australia Rock on 2001 with 10 singers/bands' cards serie and she sent me ALL the serie!!!! Two cards on a previous envelopp and the other 8 today. I almost cried because it was a such beautiful gift for me. I was so excited that I wrote to Cindy right away on 8 cards on one of her favorite theme. Postcrossing equals pure joy. Thanks to you Paolo and Anna!
May peace prevail and out postcards keep reaching all over the world.
This weekend I was invited to a birthday party on Saturday and a baptism on Sunday. I felt so happy and blessed to be a part of those two events and to see and feel the love and joy amongst so many people.
A stranger helped my husband out at a metro ticketing machine on our international trip last week... another stranger had tried to "help" us with the money transaction and it was obvious that he was a scammer, so another local stepped in and blocked him and helped my husband complete the transaction. So nice. :)
this is so cool!!! peace is such a lovely thing and the dove really holds a special place in my heart.
i’m a college student in a handful of difficult courses. and my partner for my last class of the day said that she wished she had my energy for the class. and i told her that once a day i go and buy a honey bun, and that it’s what keeps me going. and the next day she bought us both a honey bun. and we sat and ate it together while talking about bands.
This is truly a wonderful event. The world is increasingly dominated by division and conflict, rather than harmony and coexistence. In this environment, I believe each and every person's heart and actions toward peace are incredibly valuable. I hope this small token will spread to communities of harmony like Postcrossing and serve as an opportunity to achieve peace. Korea, where I live, is one of the few countries that remains divided after the Korean War, and it's a country constantly facing geopolitical risks due to the clashing interests of powerful nations. Thank you for Postcrossing's wonderful post, which reminds us of the preciousness of peace.
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

peace and love ! 🕊️
If everyone is more courteous and tolerant, the world will be a better and more peaceful place.
Thank you to the Austrian post for such kind of beautiful stamp as well as Lichtenstein post and other countries for such a wonderful offer and support
A wish for everybody: Peace to the world, the stamp is a great way to bring this message our to the world.
What a great idea... Being Swiss I am proud owner of the CH and FL peace stamp. If another stamp shows up in my letter box - I will not say NO!
So beautiful, the video and the stamps! Last week I went to have breakfast at my favourite cafe. I was very tired and distracted cause of.. life. After breakfast I brought my used cup and dishes back to counter and the lady told me how sweet I was. It brightened my day. Then I left but… I forgot to pay!!! I immediately realised and went back. I was so sorry and embarassed but the lady at the cafe was very sweet, she told me that she normally likes me a lot, but that that day she liked me even more! It melted my heart 🌈. I wish peace to everyone! 🕊️
Ive been volunteering for over 4 years now with kids in need. They are always the kindest people u will ever meet and recently one of them ran into me in the city. We gave a hug and chatted a bit and she said she had something for me, she made me a bracelet🥹❤️ It was the kindest thing ever and i'll always carry it with me
There are a lot of elderly people living in my apartment building. They love to walk and often go down the stairs. And since the stairs are narrow, they let me go first so I can go down faster, since they walk very slowly. It's very sweet, and I always thank them 💕
Today I received a postcard, hand made with all the info I have mentioned in my profile. Love yellow , smiles and flowers. This is the first hand made card I have received. The time, effort and love that has been put into it made me feel very loved and humble. She said " I hope you have a big smile on your face" .... I can tell you it sure did. If more were this kind and thoughtful the world would be a peaceful place.
As I enjoy embroidery and attend classes every week. I would be honoured to receive one of these stamps. Peace to all.🕊🕊🕊
Our daughter moved away two months ago to go study. We went to visit her last weekend. We full the fridge with veggies and fruits and meat so she can concentrate on her studies. It was easy for us but meant the world to her. Poor students! she wont have to eat ramen!
So great idea and so meanfull !
Why can’t my country participate in that ?? It is such a great way to show that we want peace.
I think a lot of all the people living in difficult conditions, war, dictatures… There are the well known conflicts but so many others de don’t hear about. We should not forget. I feel so helpless and it makes me sad. But I’m happy so see that there are many very nice people in this world. I hope friendship and peace will one day rule the world 🌎
Thank you to all the participating countries for keeping peace at the top of their objectives. 💖💖💖💖
I've started running recently. Not out of love for the sport, but to create a lifestyle change that will grant me the health I hope to have. I have a 93 year old grandpa that goes to the beach with his great grand children, plays in the sand, squads and gets up with incredible ease. I'm very proud of him and show his videos to people whenever I can :)
When I go out running, it's common here that other runners will wake and greet you. It makes me feel part of a community and I love that. Cities can be so isolating and having these small interactions makes me feel seen.
This is such a lovely idea! A random act of kindness I witnessed yesterday, I went to the beach with my family and the tide was coming in and a man informed us that if we didn't move down the beach, we would be trapped by the water so that was really nice of him and meant we weren't stranded at sea.
"We are a family, We are one." - I miss M.J. and his song "Heal the World" - a call for unity and harmony, pleading for love and compassion to create a peaceful world!
My small gesture was to visit my new neighbour, Tina (87 y.o.), just I gave her some white grapes from my garden, because I recently moved to a small country village - there are a lot of grandparents who are missing their children left for the city!
xoxo
:) :D
In the Summer I've received a postcard from my nephew. It was a really nice surprise ;) More than ever I wish for a more peaceful world.
Doves are special. I love them. My mother used to keep a pair of white doves in an open cage outside. At night, the door closed for their safety. Once I stood 2m away watching the male cooing for the female's attention. Whether I was daydreaming, I don't know, but a huge portal of energy opened right inside the cage. 5 Angels came through it, 3 males, 2 females. They passed, as if walking through an invisible tunnel, looked at me and smiled and disappeared again. What a coincidence I thought. My siblings, there are 5 of us too, 3 men, 2 women. The next day, 1 of the doves was dead. I guess it sacrificed itself for something bigger?
It’s been a rough few months, and some days feel heavier than others, but my golden retriever has a sixth sense for cheering me up. One morning, when I was feeling especially low, he came trotting in with one of my socks in his mouth, tail wagging like he’d just discovered buried treasure. He dropped it at my feet, sat proudly, and looked at me like, “I fixed everything!” I couldn’t help but laugh. That silly, sweet moment reminded me that joy can sneak in when you least expect it -especially when it has four paws and a heart of gold!
I sent a postcard to someone through postcrossing. This person, in return, sent me an envelope with 3 postcards and a thank you note. He didn't have to. So it was such a lovely surprise!
I sell toys. A mother and a little girl came up to me. The little girl really wanted a cat toy, but her mother didn't have any money. The little girl was very upset. I took the cat and gave it to the little girl. She was so happy! She even started crying with happiness!
A few weeks ago, a resident was leaning on her wheelchair and told her to lean back while I was cleaning the dining room. She was watching TV with some of the residents. I left because I needed to throw out my garbage, and when I came back, I heard they said they needed to help her. When I looked back, it was a resident she fell. I felt so bad coz I wished I had helped her more, so I ran to the reception and asked to page the nurses for the dining room. I talked to the resident and told her that the nurses are coming to help her.
Saw my son opened a door for a woman with small kids to get in to the store entrance.
Every time I'm out and about I make sure to smile and say good morning to people many of them have complimented and told them I've made their day just for being kind in that way

The wish for peace is one of the most beautiful wishes there is.
Thank you for this amazing giveaway. I was the recipient of kindness from a colleague. I was going through a difficult divorce and I had to give up my gym membership (my source of mental and physical therapy) due to the mounting legal fees and living on a smaller budget. Unbeknownst to me, my colleague and the gym owner gifted me a membership for 3 months so that I could continue to workout and stay healthy through a difficult season in life. I cried like a baby. Nothing meant more to me than their kindness and generous gesture. Even when the world feels like there's nothing good, there are plenty of examples where acts of kindness are bestowed upon others. Happy World Peace Day!
A few days ago, I smiled and thanked the postal worker who delivered letters to my home in the rain. He looked surprised, and then he smiled back warmly.
It reminded me that peace doesn’t always come from big actions, but from small gestures of gratitude and kindness. A simple “thank you” can brighten someone’s day and create a chain of peace in our community.
Recently I've given a batch of new cards to a newby Postcrosser so he can send his first cards. He's one of my students.
Every postcard is a peace message for me.
If someone hate other, they dont send message to others.
Today i received many peace message from some countries.
Wonderful initiative. My country is huge, and in a new place I was struggling to ask for directions in a language I barely spoke. Soon a stranger stepped in, spoke to me in my native language, and not only explained the way but also he walked a decent distance with me to make sure I got the directions right. Small things but it felt nice.
Wow this is needed more than ever. I believe whole-heartedly in acts of kindness and have tried to live my life with kindness and compassion. Many of the acts of kindness I have received have been from Postcrossing. I am encouraged and so grateful for kind words and the passing of peace. Recently, I received an official card with an extra beautiful handmade painting of a bridge in Czechia, I was so moved by the time and love put into this painting - it made my day. I framed it and now I look at it everyday day and think, "there is kindness".
Peace,
Sharon
There are always good people in the world, always, you have to be lucky enough to find them and enjoy that Peace that they bring with them and transmit to others, a beautiful initiative 🕊️
Today i donated blood to a patient who is going to get a Heart surgery,Felling proud on myself to be able to help some one like this!
My uncle recently passed away very suddenly, which has been difficult for myself and for my family. However, my coworkers have been so incredibly kind - proactively checking in, sending food, assuring me I can take all the time I need and that projects aren't as important as family. I'm fairly new to this remote team, and they way they've reached out to a mostly-stranger has been incredibly touching.
Today i was in the City, i see a Women they can't get out of a parking slot. This happened me 2 Times in my life - where always People come out of nowwhere and helped me out. Today i could do my back - i helped the Women out of the Parking slot - she had a kid on the backseat - and my child has waited in my car on my backseat. We say "Karma" in Germany. <3 That was a joy for me.
I work in a building with a drop in space for people who are struggling with housing and poverty. They can get a snack, take a shower, do laundry, get clothing, find out where to get supports of various kinds, and also just relax in a safe non-judgmental space. It's cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The staff who run it have a huge amount on their plate and are battling against forces beyond their control pushing the folks they work with down. They are often tired, and sometimes before the doors open are cranky, but the second those doors open they are smiling genuine smiles, they greet people by name or introduce themselves like they were meeting a new friend, they joke around, take note of people's personal interests and likes and dislikes and make them feel welcome and valued as individuals along with helping sort out incredibly challenging problems and dealing with people who are not having a good day, week, year, decade. I find myself rejuvenated watching them work. The small things they do clearly make as big a difference as some of the bigger actions they take.
I have 10 stray cats in my yard, I take care of them. We live in the countryside, so they don't live indoors but stay in the shelters that we built. yesterday one of the cats brought a mouse as a gift. It is not the best gift ever, but he shows his greatefullness with this little gift and made me smile :) meow!
My son's bike and my bike were stolen a week ago. At night. Later another day one man brought my bike back. He saw strange movements near my house and saw two people escaping. He ran after one and hit him. He managed to take my bike back. We bought a new one for my son, but my bike was back. That was so brave 👏
World peace!!! Every voice matters.
When small voices resonate at the same frequency, they can create powerful vibrations and waves.
So I hope everyone can use their own energy to inspire those around them—and thanks to Postcrossing, that influence now reaches across the world—spreading the message of peace.
Let us treat every person in this world with love.
No wars, no plunder, no discrimination.
I am in Alabama with a dear friend. She has a devastating illness: MSA.
Her family is taking such good care of her. If we all cared for each other as deeply, there would be no wars.
Since I'm currently unable to cycle due to an injury, I take the bus for a few stops. I look forward to meeting my fellow travelers every day – a diverse mix of schoolchildren, international students, senior citizens, and refugees from Ukraine. We greet and help each other, even if we don't all speak the same language. The atmosphere is friendly and peaceful. Just as it should always be between people.
My very best friend recently passed away and her husband took the time to bring me all the ice cube molds I had gotten her over the years back to me rather than tossing them. I'm looking forward to using her favorite one. Everyone needs a little kindness these days. I wish the people in power would listen to us choosing kindness and not hate against our fellow humans.
I was at my uncle’s funeral. I was taking it pretty hard. A total stranger said he was sorry for my loss. Those 4 words just helped so much
I watched the Memorial for Charlie Kirk, a young American patriot, yesterday. His widow spoke eloquently and forgave his assassin.
After a particularly rough day recently I received a message from someone I don’t know well. It simply said, “I see you, and I appreciate your courage to speak up for others. What you do matters so much more than you know. Thank you.”
It made my day. I had been feeling like it’s all hopeless and was reminded that it’s not.
I sneezed really quietly in the craft store and a kind women said bless you! In times of ignorance and less kindness to eachother that already made my day!
Dat er vrede mag komen wereldwijd! Fijn hoe we elkaar via post crossing kunnen bereiken en de vrede door kunnen geven door gewoon weg een woord en een groet! Dankjewel!
Unknown man helped me to harvest the apples from the orchard.
La pace è bianca il mondo è blu!
Dozens of people came to an event held by my neighbor to help with research to her medical charity. So much support!
I wake up each day hoping for peace…
Peace and Happy Postcrossing
I love how much I learn from the lovely notes, postcards, and stamps I receive. I share what I learn with my son and coworkers, and it makes them happy too! I've had some nice book recommendations and favorite authors from postcrossers recently that I've enjoyed looking into and will be reading in the near future.
I love picking fresh flowers from gardens in my area. The owners' plant rows and rows with great love. Even though I pay for what I pick, I consider the flowers a blessing to me, the people and the land.
A girl from Ukraine sent a small gift to me as well as a postcard with some stamps too. It made my day. And I will pay it forward ….
What a beautiful reminder! I want to believe that there will come a day when all of the humanity will come to its senses and we become a unified nation of Earthlings living in peace. As a tiny act of kindness I often write postcards to isolated persons (our local library has a special mailbox) sharing some funny stories or books I am reading the the moment.
I love reading everyone's little acts and messages here that foster peace and joy.
I have been struggling with my health lately, and today my friend reminded me to advocate for myself when I need rest. So simple, but I really needed to hear it from someone else.
After a long work day a few weeks ago, I rushed through the train station hoping to buy dinner somewhere. Everything was already closed up except one small place. When I got there there was an old man and I asked if I could still buy something. He told me they were already closed as well but pushed a small bag with a fresh veggie-wrap into my hand as a gift. Truly made my day and was the best-tasting wrap I‘ve ever had!!
I was caring for a patient in the hospice where I work. When I finished, he said he felt so wonderfully refreshed and comfortably in bed. Giving someone a sense of happiness at the end of their life is what I call "moments of happiness that work both ways."
Start peace in your head...thoughts are said to become acts.
And a Haiku of Basho: Late Fall season
I wonder what my neighbors
might do now? -Basho-
Totally unexpected, I received a gorgeous meet up card from an old friend and it made my day! Thank you for this giveaway!
Small acts of kindness, like asking a frazzled retail clerk how they are doing, giving a few dollars without judgement to people who ask, being peaceful on social media to put good into the world, and other random acts of goodness, can go a long way toward promoting peace. I try to put forth good in the world daily.
What a beautiful giveaway! I was recently blessed with the birth of a micro-preemie (born at 27 weeks). His middle name is Jonah, which means dove, because I felt so much peace while in the hospital. So many of my friends and family members supported us and helped us through the tough time. Hoping for more peace and kindness in the world! Cheers to all!
These are very cool! A few days ago, a transit employee tapped me in to ride the train for free. Yesterday, a friend brought me free postcards she had acquired. My mom complimented some flowers two women were carrying and they gave her one. Lots of small moments of kindness in the world :)
Last weekend, I went to the city with my daughter by train. It had been a while, and there was no money left on my transport card, so it was empty. Due to the rush and the stress of reloading right before the train stopped, I forgot to check in. Ten minutes later, on the train, the conductor came.... Luckily, he saw on my card that I never before forgot to check-in and that I was well-intentioned and allowed me to check in my card quickly at the next station. Thank you to the understanding people who gave our day out a good start! Kindness from a good heart is always a gift that keeps on giving.
Serving as a host couple this past weekend at a Retreat for parents of exceptional children allowed me to help bring a bit of rest and reflection for these incredible parents who deal with such levels of complexity regarding thier children. Please reflect, meditate, and pray for such families.
Every morning I take a quick 15 minute walk around the Elementary School near my office. During this walk I pick up trash from the school and its playground. Today a six-year old boy called out to me --- "Santiclos! Santiclos!!" and asked for a trash grabber like mine so he could pick up the trash inside the fence. I told him he has to be a very good young man and that I would put in a good word for him with Santa.
free palestine, lets have world peace <3
The latest small gesture of kindness that comes to mind is the way the bus driver waited for me to sprint towards the bus the other night, even though he could have easily ignored me and left, considering the distance I had to cover. It might sound trivial, but when you're tired and in a rush, it matters!
I had a long 3hr appointment at the hospital, and needed to wait for my ride afterward. My phone was nearly dead, so I went to the gift shop for a puzzle book to pass my time. I had no cash but the machine had the label for tap to pay. My phone didn't end up working, so the older lady on the register paid for me! It was very sweet of her.
A cashier at Trader Joe's gave my wife and newborn baby free flowers today!
I work in an Assisted Living home. A resident's daughter cooked a feast for her father to share with all the other residents and the staff. So kind! And appreciated!
What a beautiful stamp! I regularly enjoy surprising people with flowers that I grow - it's always so enjoyable when it's unexpected!
I strongly believe in World Peace and helping newcomers from War Torn Countries. In my city of Toronto Canada we have a huge homeless crisis. So as a result many refugees are stranded without a place to live. I often talk to a very young homeless man on the streetcar. He is from Sudan and has no family here. As the weather is becoming cooler I see him using a blanket as a cape to keep warm. I have been carrying a winter coat with me as I commute and was lucky enough to bump into him on the streetcar to be able to give him the coat I had for him.
I am hiring a live-in caregiver for a friend. I interviewed a woman who was in a dire living situation and while there was concern about her smoking and drugs and I could not give her the job, when I called her to tell her, I talked with her for two hours helping her process her disappointment and to help strategize what she could do to find a better place to live. She didn't feel safe with mail at her house so I offered her my address to use until she was able to secure ID. I gave her a ride to her friends house in another town so she could borrow some money and helped her conclude that she would be better off moving to a different state where she knows people. I found her temporary housing in a woman's shelter and felt nothing but good feelings about her and our connection. I feel like I made a friend. I don't know anyone who smokes or does drugs and I prefer my friends to be clean, but it felt like the right thing to do to offer her friendship. I think there are a lot of people out there who are down on their luck for whatever reason even if we can't imagine making the kind of choices they made to be where they are and my helping hand may just tide her over until the next blip, but offering kindness without judgement get's us one step closer to peace.
My husband and I recently started fostering kids for the first time. When several people in my community heard this they dropped off toys, clothes and diapers. The kindness of our neighbors and community is overwhelming and we are so thankful and blessed to KNOW that there are still great people in this world!!
Over the weekend I attended Camp Bluebird for cancer patients. Everyone was wonderful and treated us campers as VIPs. After receiving a personal hand massage by one of the volunteers, I was presented with a handmade Beaded bracelet as souvenir of my spa experience by my sweet volunteer masseuse. What a wonderful exclamation point to punctuate a delightful experience!
Love, Peace, Forever 🕊🕊🕊
An act of kindness that brightened my day recently was when I accidentally set off the fire alarm at the library, and the officer very kindly explained to me how the system works and thanked me for informing her. Peace forever !! 🕊🕊🕊
Let there be peace on Earth, we all need it so much 🥹
Oh, how nice it is to read messages about peace and acts of love. I received a postcrossing card with the wish "Peace begins with a smile". I think the sentence is beautiful, so I have wished this message forward myself in postcrossing cards and thank you messages.
Peace begins with a smile.
Last week i went to do some groceries. While i was locking my bike i saw a man falling over to the cars parked near the side walk.. people noticed but kept walking. I went to the man and asked i he needed help. I took his bag and gave him an arm to lean on.. He told me he just been to the hospital and they said he had a concussion… i dont know if that was true because he was also a bit intoxinated .. but who am i to judge. So i walked him to his house, wished him getting better and went back to do my groceries. A little kindness that took just under 10 minutes
Last week on my way home, I saw a butterfly resting on the ground. I didn't know why it wasn't flying. Perhaps it was sick, old, or something else. But it was still alive, and with so many cars passing by, leaving it there would be dangerous. Though I'm afraid of insects, I stopped anyway. I guided it onto my sleeve and carried it to a nearby flower bed.
Every life is equal. I choose to cherish life and hope for world peace.
This month, on each of the postcards I send, I will write the word "Peace" in green. I have hope for peace.
A friend of mine is battling cancer. I told her about Postcrossing. We live in different cities, and I send her postcards. For the past six months, I've been looking for people who could also bring her joy with postcards. So many wonderful people responded to my request. Her mailbox was full, she's happy. Believe in goodness.
Its all in the little things. Recently I got new next door neighbours and bumped into them when coming home from work. I apologised for the loudness of our television (my mother is deaf and in denial) and they said they were going to buy ingredients to make bread. I shared an old tip for getting a nice crust and they were so happy they knocked on the door later to gift me a loaf. Hoping they stick around for a while!
A week ago my boyfriend went shopping and when he used the „Pfand” /depoit machine he found a receipt of 32€ left behind. Instead of keeping it and using it for himself, he gave it to the cashier. Shortly after the that the man who had left the receipt came back and was so glad that no one has took advantage of it cause he was short of money anyway
Think that was a beautiful act of my boyfriend.
Being in contact with people means 1000 possibilities to make another person and myself happier-
a friendly greeting or compliment, some delicious food passed on, letting someone pass before you on the street or being helped with whatever :o))...
I hope for peace all over the world (Yemen, Kongo, Sudan, Ukraine, Gaza...)
For already year me and my husbrand help to the dog shelter in Moscow. Unfortunatelly, our dog died one month ago, but we continue to help, because it's not animal's fault they were left on the street. A lot of people are really cruel and we want to give them any love and comfortable life. Unfortunatelly we can't have dog now, because we live in a rent flat, but when we wiil have own house, we will get a dog from shelter.
Recently, my roommate did a minor surgery. Due to that, he has to use wheelchair. However, there are some floors between our apartment and the ground. So I help him to get his wheelchair to the ground every time when I see he is going out.(He is a little bit shy so he would not ask me to help him if I am in my room or doing something)
eine sehr schöne Idee , Peace for the world !
Multiple people have seen me in the supermarket, collecting greenery from vegetables (lonely cabbage leaves/cauliflower leaves/...) and asked if I had bunnies at home and then offered me leaves that were still stuck to their veggies. It is a big help to me and it always sparks joy to talk to people about my furry roommates. Most of the time we both continue our shopping with a smile on our faces! :D
I’m a volunteer who takes care of injured and sick pigeons. I have one tame bird as a pet — her name is Luna. I rescued her when she was a featherless baby, and now she lives with me in my apartment.
I also have 11 non-releasable pigeons who share their best lives with me. Besides that, I regularly pick up birds who need help. When they recover and are ready, I release them back into the outside world.
Pigeons are incredible creatures, but sadly they have an unfairly bad reputation in the media. I hope people will learn to be more polite, caring, and kind to all animals!
Peace and love to everyone and for every place on earth. 🌍🍀
And peace to my grandpas, I know you would love this stamp, I hope you are next to me right know and you can see it trough my eyes too…I can feel it… ✨🥰
Last week a barista wrote a little smiley face on my coffee cup, and it genuinely lifted my mood! Even another woman saw the smileyface and smiled at me, too! <3
I'm making a small community garden for an elderly neighbour, and recently posted on Freegle (the free exchange site) asking if anyone had plant pots to donate. I've been given a number of really lovely ceramic pots by local people, all for free and out of sheer kindness. I'm paying it forward by making the little garden as nice as it can be - and the kindness is contagious. Neighbours have started to talk to each other and to bring new plants for him to add to the garden!
Very lovely stamp! You know what a real jackpot would be? To receive this stamp stuck on "PT-1" together with the Cinderella stamp "P20". It's a pity the Czech Republic didn't get involved, I would send someone a postcard like that right away. 😻😻
It’s my 12th month of sponsoring UNICEF, and they’ve sent me a certificate—I’m really delighted about it.
I want to tell you about Anastasia, a postcross from Tashkent. She picks up sick or injured pigeons on the streets, treats and nurses them, and then releases them. Her home is a paradise for pigeons. One of her pigeons, Luna, has become completely tame. I admire people like Anastasia.
My mother does Postcrossing with me. Together we hunt for Post cards, have fun sending them out, and enjoy it together when we receive one. It meant a lot to me that she started it with me, when she's already so busy.
My 2 years old nephew finally called me 'Uncle' in full for the first time ever :) I am grateful for having a lovely and complete family.
It would be wonderful if all people could live in a peaceful world. Wars are so unnecessary and only cost money and lives.
A few weeks ago, I was in a supermarket. I was standing in front of a shelf looking for my product. Next to me, a petite lady was struggling to reach a product on the top shelf. I asked her if I could help her, and she gratefully accepted my assistance. We then spent a good five minutes just talking to each other.
I had a professional clash with a colleague. The thought that "reason" was on my side prevented me from seeing the other view of things. I'm a support teacher...It's my job to find a solution. I didn't speak, I smiled at her, saying we'd see each other the next day. Then at home I looked for useful tools for both of us (a video in this case) to offer help in her lesson that could be suitable for the whole class. If I don't change the environment around me won't change, this is the determination I want to apply every day when faced with difficulties.
Can't really think of anything myself, but the comments here are quite nice. It was good to read them.
Yesterday one of our seniors was out sick so I was lucky enough to fill in for her. I greeted each one as they came in for lunch. What a joy.
This week, we saw a very large fire displace 4 different families in an apartment complex. We are a very tiny village of less than 3k people. The number of people that came together to make sure the victims had safe housing (hotels paid for), new clothing, meals, and toys for the children really restored my belief in human kindness and gives hope for peace!
Ever since our postcrossing club was founded in Tashkent, I've dreamed of holding a charity event. On November 24, 2024, we had our sixth official meetup at the "Cats and Friends" cat cafe. We invited all the artists who draw cats to participate, and all the money from the postcard sales went to support the "Milye koshki" (Cute Cats) shelter. Attendees also brought food, treats, and toys. I am so happy that postcrossing has brought so many caring people together and helped a small shelter.
The gentleman seated next to my table offered his French Fries and a cup of Coke when he saw I was sharing a meal set with my mother. It was a very nice gestures of the young man. He and us both were enjoying a discounted meal set from McDonald's. HA HA HA HA! ! XD XD XD
I am so thankful for any words of kindness shown in the postcards I receive. For me, and many like minded people like me, my country is very divided and dark right now. When I receive a postcard that says, “I wish you peace” or “We are with you!”, I feel such community with our global family. Thank you friends! I wish you all peace!
One of our clients’ dogs wagged its tail and leaned on me for a cuddle today, it reminded me how pure and healing animals’ love can be.
We have a very kind, older postman, (grandfather) who always smiles en waves when he comes by. Even in rain or cold. He likes the cards I get by postcrossing and waves with them or compliments them. His friendly and unselfish attitude is a friendly and calming tune in a sometimes very loud world. I am very thankfull for that!
I am so thankful for the wonderful messages of peace and happiness that I have and continue to receive via postcards from all over the globe. I am so grateful for Postcrossing and the small, everyday gestures of kindness I'm delivered in my mailbox each week.
Peace is the courage to meet with open hearts. It lives in every respectful word, in every act of kindness. Let us not wait for grand gestures, but begin in the small: to listen, to understand, to care. This is how peace grows day by day, from heart to heart. many of your stories show that a peaceful act of kindness is possible every day. Love to you all!
The last weeks I care for my grandma, so she lived 400km away and I drive long time by car and hear my favorite radio station. It's so international. Music from so much country's and I really love it. When I hear so much different music in one hour, I dream about peace all over the world 🙏🏽🙃
In my country a lot of people really value money over anything else, no judgment here money is wonderful however most never want to part with it. There have been times when I have been standing in line getting ready to pay for something and the people behind me would just pay for my things for me. This has happened a couple times with food as I was getting into my purse someone behind me would say "let me pay for that". I thought these acts of kindness were some of the most generous especially in my country.
Today, the mail carrier who delivers to my work place came across someone selling a collection of stamps on the facebook marketplace. She said she immediately thought of me, as I had mentioned one time a while ago that I was a collector. She showed me the listing so that I could seek it out myself.
Just that someone I don't know very well remembered one small thing about me made me smile. We may only see each other a minute a day, but a connection was made and kindness was shared. It was a great start to my day!
Fortunately, we see peace in small action every day. Students helping one another and showing them kindness and respect although speaking a different language, coming from other countries or believing in different gods. In an environment of peace we all live and learn together. If you like see our profile and write us a card. We'd love to read it! Peace
A friend of mine recently went to a big convention and, without me asking, brought me back a bunch of cool goodies from a niche interest of mine. :) It was a very kind gesture!
I see small acts of peace and kindness in my local community every day. My favorite is when someone at my local Alid gives their cart to another person, without taking a quarter back in return (iykyk!) and then I see that chain continue with others doing the same. It's such a small way to show kindness but a wonderful gesture!
A colleague making me a cup of tea, when I didn’t have the time to make one ☕️
A very small act of kindness, but made me smile. I was at the supermarket in the queue to pay a few things, and the man in front of me, maybe in his 80s, kindly asked me if I wanted to pass in front of him. I really did not need to, but he acted like a XIXth century gentleman.
I love when a chain of pay it forward happens. Recently, I had someone ahead of me pay for my food, so I payed for the food behind me. The cashier said it had been going on for several hours and made her so happy.
Yesterday I was diagnosed with dementia. My son drove me to the doctor’s appointment, and when I came out and told him the news, he gave me a big hug and said “We’re going for ice cream!" He knew it would cheer me up. And it did!
I am sending postcards of Hiroshima where the atomic bomb was dropped .
The postcard features origami cranes wishing for peace. We will continue to send postcards wishing for peace of Hiroshima Nagasaki where the atomic bomb was dropped.
Peace is the ultimate goal, I think this is what everybody can agree to.
My home-of-choice ist labelled the city of peace, because in 1648 the then European leaders negotiated the later famous Westphalian peace treaty.
I try to create little signals of peace in everyday life – today, my husband and me decided to work together on very huge tasks in his office, and just when I was thinking about a pause and making some coffee for my love, he returned with coffee and cheesecake. That brightened up our day! It's those little things... :)
What a beautiful stamp. I was so happy to hear how many people canceled Disney+ after they suspended Jimmy Kimmel. Enough people to make them backtrack. We still have so much work to do in the US, but each person standing up for freedom of speech is ultimately standing up for peace.
I adopted my friend's bunny and they offered to bring some food for him and for my other bunnies today! Super sweet :)
Today a dear friend dropped me off a bag full of green tomatoes! I love fried green tomatoes! What a sweet treat! And that my friend remembered that I loved them!!
:-)
My friend and I paint and “hide” Kindness Rocks, and hopes to spread peace and happiness to someone’s day! The local coffee shop that we hang out at weekly to paint the rocks, has a display on their counter for us to place them. Customers are encouraged to take whichever ones speak to them. And recently we had a lady come to us who’s there weekly with her 95 year-old dad and says that he really enjoys them so she takes one every week for him. She said she always felt bad about taking them and not placing any herself so she wanted to know if she could give us blank rocks that we could paint on, to compensate us for it. We explained to the purpose of them to her and let her know no reimbursement was necessary. We were just thrilled that it brightened her father‘s week! That’s the reason we do it! 🥰☮️
Lovely stamp, we need more such stamps in every country!
Peace for all!
Recently, I went on the bus and wanted to pay with my portable but the driver recused it: I didn't downloaded the good company ticket. I was a bit confused. A young man gave me one of his pass. I was so surprised and happy! I thank him and told him I would pass it on... 🙏
My beetle Banana died recently and my new friend from Finland drew me a bookmark featuring Banana and all the things she loved (jelly, twigs, leaves). It made me cry to know that people can be so kind, and that I won the lottery making a friend that would do that for me <3
I was short on money getting coffee and the person behind me offered to pay for it !!!! Such a sweet gesture and small everyday things like that warm my heart
I am a psychology professor. My department is part of a movement to celebrate Good Deeds Day on October. 8th. The plan is for psychology students and professionals to do one good deed for someone that day (friend, stranger, or acquaintance). Psychology departments across the US and worldwide are participating. The original good deed is that one department chair decided to do organize this project and encouraged 75 other departments to join in. I am hoping to get a huge turnout from my faculty and students!
My mum and I grow vegetables at our dacha. When I carry my harvest to my place I always give several cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes to the people who I meet on the way. Sure, I know these people and I also know they have no dachas. They are so happy to get tasty and nice vegetables for free 😊
A small act of kindness was that someone paid for my lunch at the cafe because they could!
I went to a store's checkout to purchase a postcard while in a town I was visiting for the first time. The kind employee working there said she couldn't remember how to ring it up in their system, as they don't sell many postcards, and gave it to me at no cost! Just put a big smile on my face☺️
Kindness and joy in every day, amazing people who notice it!
On Sunday, we returned from the dacha, and our middle son, 17, greeted us with a cooked dinner, baked blueberry pies, and a good mood. It was a wonderful family dinner.
I truly hope for a world without wars, where every child can grow up feeling safe, loved, and full of hope.
I recently received a lot of mint stamps from a kind Postcrosser. Such a thoughtful gesture that brought me so much joy.
Postcrossing is a good reminder that we can connect with anyone regardless of where we live. That there are many people out there that love to spend their time writing a postcard for someone they don't know - just to make them happy!
We were in the Netherlands last weekend and ended up in a little cosy shop, buying a board game. The person at the counter pointed to a table in the middle of the shop and invited us for a cup of tea. He also sat down with us and took the time to have a nice conversation. In our busy world, these little acts of kindness are so heartwarming and welcome. It made my day! <3
Recently, my mom has been spending a lot of time in the forest, relaxing while picking mushrooms. She brought news from work that one of her colleagues isn’t able to walk long distances but really wanted to try some mushrooms. So my mom picked a whole bucketful for her, and together we delivered it to her house. The gratitude on that woman’s face was indescribable, and for a long time I felt that we had truly done a good deed. I always believe that kindness comes back. <3
Today I found a cat themed post card in my mail box. :-)
A few weeks ago, I was riding my motorcycle home when I suddenly ran out of gas and had to push it to the nearest station. Another biker stopped by and, without many words, simply asked if I needed help before pushing alongside me. When we arrived, I thanked him, and he just smiled and continued on his way. I never learned his name, but his quiet act of kindness will never be forgotten.
I work since more then 20 years in a Wildlife Rescue Centre and we just had 3 open Sundays. I the morning I walked next to all the animals we rescued and treated their wounds. I just saw a lot of rescued doves and I had to think at the dove of peace. Let's do our best for peace in the world. We can do it by writing postcards and spreading peace through our community, it's a good start.
I work in Radiation Oncology (specific cancer dept) and I try my best to give peace and rest to all the patients that walk through our doors. We recently had a mother finish treatment. I always watched over her kids while they waited on their mom and often offered them candy. I can only imagine what it's like to have a mom with cancer, especially at their young ages.
I get notified when patients pass, there's some paperwork I have to do, but I always sit with it. I find myself mourning a person I've never met, and hope it's felt somewhere, somehow. It hits hard when I knew the patient, or they pass young. Recently, it was a young woman I knew, who was the sweetest thing.
TLDR, I find myself practicing kindness every day in my work, which is a blessing imo.
I don't want to give specifics but I helped two ladies last week who were looking for something near where I work 🙂 did not know them but I remember their smile as we parted.
I work with teenager in a dormitory. We also give rooms to International Students. In weekly Cooking Evenings we encourage our residents to gather and to talk, cook/bake and eat together. There are always people of different nationalities, religious beliefs,... and they all go on well together and have fun!
Right now I am in the middle of my studies and quite overwhelmed with all of my work, because I simply entered too many courses this semester. My friend noticed that I am stressed out and offered to learn for a test together, she even gave me her notes. They are quite helpful and I am just very happy she was kind enough to help me :)
I love being a part of this wonderful world of postcrossing!
I'm going through some health issues and my yoga teacher brought me beautiful mums yesterday September 23rd 2025.
Waiting on results on my biopsy.
I love and live peace everyday, I could use this beautiful dove at this time of uncertainty. Please 🙏 and thank you universal postcrossing for this amazing opportunity to experience such wonderful people of liked minds.
Namaste 🙏 Gail
Everytime I send a card to an area or country where peace and freedom isn't guaranteed like here in Germany I hope that my card make someone smile and think about the meaning of life. It's only one card to one single person but it's one step done which was undone without these card.
Every smile brings a feeling of joy and happiness. Let's smile and respect each other! 🧡
I think every delivered piece of mail is like a call for peace and connection. I always try to smile a people and be friendly and helpful. Some weeks ago I received an envelop I sent to someone in Switzerland sent back to me in an envelop from Belgium. The person said it was misdelivered to her home and sent it back to me so I can try again to send it to the right place. I felt very touched. Wow!
Kindness makes all the difference in the world. Thank you for promoting peace.
Yesterday, when I was standing in line at the supermarket, two girls in front of me didn't have enough money to buy their groceries. I paid for their goods. Their eyes after that are priceless. By the way, a stray cat often hangs out near this same supermarket. I sometimes buy him food. Recently, I saw that the employees of this store bought food and water bowls for the cat. My faith in humanity will never fade.
Last night the people closing at my job, knowing that I was opening today, asked if there was anything they could do to make opening easier this morning since yesterday was so chaotic. They went above and beyond to make my job easier today, even though they didn't have to.
This week as I was paring down my belongings, my neighbor from New Zealand came over brought me crumpets to try and a box of stationery from her office that she no longer was using! (and took away 7 boxes of things from my garage)
My mother had a baby high chair in her home. It was passed down to her from her family; her nieces, nephews, children and grandchildren all sat in it from age 1-2. We all used it extensively, for several generations. She kept it due to sentimentality and for when another baby comes along in the family. It has emotional value as a family heirloom and monetary value as an old vintage item.
But when she found out a neighborhood woman (basically a stranger) had her first baby, my mom immediately went over there and offered the high chair. She barely knows any of the people more than a passing "hello, nice day today", but there was no hesitation. I find it important that my mom cares deeply about a new mother she barely knows, and a baby she might never even meet. Normally in her neighborhood people mind their own business and stay detached, but she is different.
Every year I hold a children's drawing contest among rural library readers and print postcards with their drawings. Seeing the children's smiling faces is priceless.
In difficult times, they advise us: not to lose hope, because no shadow of the world has the power to extinguish the small light of hope. 🕊🕊❤️
My daughter (12) recently asked for a penpal and really wanted one. I found her one (who is her age) and I love that my daughter is just so excited to spread kindness and joy to another person who she has never met in person and I'm proud of her for creating that connection and hopefully lasting friendship.
Lovely stamp!!
Recently my neighbor offered me some fruit he was picking as I was walking by, it really warmed my day!
May we all live in peace🕊️
We need world peace ✌️ 🙏 😌
"Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me and the entire human race ..."
Truer words were never spoken. I think each and every postcard is a small step into healing the world - it brings joy and messages of hope and goodwill.
Everyday I try to compliment a random person - the recipient's joyful surprise is heartwarming.
Peace for everyone!
We were on holidays some weeks ago and visited Lisbon. I love wearing shirts with funny texts on it. A woman (also a tourist) came towards me and just called out "I like your shirt". I said "thank you" and smiled the whole day.
We all live and love on the same planet. I hope that peace spreads everywhere, including within my own country.
I saw an elderly lady struggeling with using our parcel stations here in Germany. I stopped and guided her through the process. Its a good feeling being helpful. c:
Uhh lovely stamp, love that so many are participating country wise c:
Two cards to Ukraine this week. I think it is wonderful they can still get cards over there. I hope a postcard can bring peace for a moment in your heart. I wish peace for all over the world.
A very good friend of our youngest son has been in a coma for several weeks. He and his friends recorded a voice message so his mother can always play it to the young man. We all hope he gets through this difficult time. It's so wonderful to see how these young people are caring for their sick friend.
Beautiful stamp! I have been sharing my love of post cards and Postcrossing with my local post office agent. Recently, she visited Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle, Washington. She surprised me with post cards from her visit!! It was so kind and thoughtful.
Peace
Lois
I had a bad day at work. My husband, seeing my face, cooked me my favorite dinner and just spoiled me that evening. I’m so lucky to have someone so loving.
While at a farmers market one of the booth runners flagged my family down to give my daughter a cake pop for free “because she was so cute”. It made my daughters day and she absolutely devoured that cake pop
Postcrossing cards build bridges and spread friendship and joy. I'm thankful for this community. ❤️
There were road works in my area and they cut hot water in my building so I couldn't take shower for couple of days. I was really thankful for my nephews who live a couple of bus stops away for letting me in. It was really nice. Not only i could use hot water but also got to chill in a bathtube for an hour! What a pleasure! I'm grateful for peace, my family, my home and myself!
My husband always goes out of his way to anticipate things that will make me smile, and I am so grateful. 🥰
we achieved freedom through peace in India
My daughter is away in college and, knowing I love postcards, sent me one without my knowledge. When I received it I saw it was postmarked from where she was (not knowing it was hers), then I read the message and it sounded so personal then I finally realized it was from her (her name had been covered by a coded strip) and was screaming of joy!
I am so thankful for all the people who take the time and put in the effort to make groups like this happen. I see "Postcrossing" spreading international peace & friendship; "Secret Angels" is another group I belong to which spreads love through making & mailing embroidered angels to those who need some cheer; and the senior community in which I live has a group who lends assistance to others. And what joy I have received by reading all these wonderful stories here.
It's so nice reading all the acts of kindness from everyone!
I live in an apartment building and recently a neighbour had put out a box in the hallway of self made ceramics like cups and bowls for takeaway! Also, a nice mom from my kid's day care insists on giving me her daughter's clothes and shoes for free, so I'm thinking of making her cinnamon rolls as a thank you. :)
And some random little thing I do: I save every earthworm, if I see them struggling on asphalt after rain. I believe peace starts in kindness towards the most vulnerable and small ones.
I let someone in a hurry go ahead of me at the supermarket checkout. She thanked me warmly, and it felt nice to be able to help without expecting anything in return.
"Peace is not just the absence of conflict; peace is the creation of an environment where all can flourish."
— Nelson Mandela, UN Speech, 2002
We'd long dreamed of traveling to the mountainous republic of Chechnya, having heard countless times about the extraordinary hospitality of the people of this corner of Russia. It turns out that this republic is truly home to many kind and attentive people. We preferred to travel around the capital, Grozny, on foot and by bus. And imagine, during our five-day trip, we didn't pay for the bus once. The thing is, when we passed money through other people, it would... be returned to us, because the driver would say that our fare had already been... paid. Sometimes we could tell by the smiles of people who were showing such a gesture of hospitality, and sometimes we didn't even know, so upon exiting the bus, we thanked everyone. And everyone smiled back.
I use a wheelchair, and someone in my family always pushes me. Recently, we were going into a doctor's office for an appointment of mine, but we were having trouble getting both sets of heavy doors open while he was pulling me (trying to) in through them. A nice man jumped up and held the doors for us. My husband had to use the restroom when my name was called, so I raised my arm and indicated I'm here but... so a lady in the waiting room got up and pushed me toward the access door until my husband caught up. And then, yet again, another gentleman jumped up and opened up the heavy doors for us so we could leave. All of these kindnesses from strangers gave me the warm fuzzies.
Two weeks ago, there was a horrible accident in Mexico City, involving a truck transporting gas, 30 people have died and while the rescue efforts were ongoing, more than a dozen people showed up with coffee, sandwiches and water for the fire fighters and those helping!
A friend found me and mailed to me a vintage tuba christmas button because she knows i love playing in tuba christmas every year :')
A dear friend's daughter has an undiagnosed paralysis impacting her ability to move her legs. She lives in a rehab center with impending movement into an assistive living care facility, indefinitely, until her neurological appointment in February, 2026, arrives. She sits in a hospital bed and reads, colors, and engages in online gaming. I recently prepared a large activity bag with stationary, stickers, origami, needlework-counted cross stitch, potholder loom, mindful journals, inspiration books, calligraphy pens and paper, speciality pens and pencils, etc., which she could use to make for her five children. My friend's daughter was thankful and stated she had always wanted to try creating gifts for her family.
If you ever find someone in a similar situation, perhaps a creative bag filled with unexpected activities might just help lift a spirit.
I purchased a ham and received on for free. I offered to donate the extra ham to our local soup kitchen.
The other day I was driving on the interstate and I happened upon a person who had broken down. I gave them a ride to the nearest mechanic and I feel like I really helped them that day.
Letter to Postcrossing Official
Dear Postcrossing Official,
Hello! I am from China, a nation that has cherished peace since ancient times. Nevertheless, we will fight back courageously if we are bullied. We do not provoke trouble, yet we are never afraid of it—for we have a powerful motherland safeguarding us.
I hold the same belief: I love peace deeply and detest war. This embroidery product fully conveys people's love for and yearning for peace, and I sincerely hope to receive one.
Thank you!
Just now I have enjoyed reading about other people's acts of peace they are receiving and giving. Recently a colleague was sharing with me about foods they miss from their home country, and talked about colourful flowers in our home countries, and the sharing of our perspectives brightened my whole day!
The kindness that had really touched me, was just after a shooting that happened at my university and some died a few weeks ago. I really appreciated how the people in my classes came together despite our political differences to be kind to each other. In particular, someone brought me some cake and helped me with my homework.
In Spain, the postal service issues more than 90 stamps a year, and commemorations like this are NOT celebrated. It's a shame. Pablo Picasso (Spanish) in 1949 drew one of the most iconic representations of the dove as a symbol of peace; it is thanks to Pablo Picasso.
I'm for peace!!! I'm really looking forward to the war in Ukraine ending so I can return home.
I love to leave little notes with a positive message where people who need them might find them (grocery store shelves, car windshields, the library, etc.)
The “Dove of Peace” stamp is a wonderful initiative.
I just recently found Postcrossing and I already love the idea, concept, realization and the community.
My day has been brightened lately by someone, because they showed understanding for us postal workers in the current difficult situation facing the postal service here in my region and Germany in general.
Happy postcrossing! :)
Yesterday, I visited the arts and crafts market in my town with my husband, an artist. We chatted with several artists and gave some of them my husband's postcards as gifts. Some hadn't expected someone to give something for free and were genuinely pleased. We had many pleasant conversations.
This morning I was expecting the chimney sweep, and just as I was finishing my housework, the doorbell finally rang. I opened the door and there stood our chimney sweep‘s young apprentice
with the most radiant smile ever. It was so cheerful 😄
I’m sure, this smile will carry me through the next few days - and I am determined to pass it on.
I take care of my grandfather, and he is becoming better and better now!
Another thing was that I helped a woman find a Chinese menu in the Vietnamese snacks shop, I was glad she didn't miss ordering that tasty sweet "momochacha".
Once my neighbor (she leaves in my building, door in front of mine) surprised me by baking a cake to thank me after I helped her with administrative bills she did not understand. It was such a sweet gesture that really brightened my day and reminded me how kindness comes full circle.
Hello everyone The story is as follows: - Our mother, my daughter's grandmother, lives in the country in the summer! There was a week left before departure, the potatoes and carrots were dug out, the squash and pumpkin were harvested, the jars were swirled! Grandma comes out on the veranda, and there's a kitten! Winter is coming, we can't leave him to die, Grandma thought and informed us! Without hesitation, another family member appeared in our family - wild Yasha (Lynx, rabid psycho, full name - Jacob, don't chase my legs or bite my hands). We fell in love with Yasha, he purrs against my neck at night and sometimes throws himself at his wife! =))))
This week I attended a wedding and wore a really fancy dress with green shoes. The whole outfit was WAY out of my comfort zone and I didn't feel good wearing it. I received several comments from people that I looked pretty and that they like my dress. It made me feel good.
I received two wonderful postcards tonight. One from Germany and the other from Belarus. I was very happy.😃
Amazing reminder, to everyone treat people the way you like to be treated. I was at work and had customers that came in. Said, that I always have a smile and greet them. That makes their day.
I am a volunteer with the Red Cross and was at a shelter following a flood. Many of the residents were families and there were a lot of young children running around. The shelter building had no air conditioning. On my way home one night I saw a sidewalk vendor with watermelons so I stopped and bought four to take with me to the shelter the next day. That morning the feeding staff took them, sliced them up, and put the trays in the refrigerator. That afternoon, as everyone was getting overheated and cranky, out came the slices of COLD watermelon! To see the smiles on tired faces was priceless!
This past weekend was my good friend's retirement party. He served in the US Army as a nurse and educator for 27 years! So many people drove or flew long distances just to honor him and surprise him with their presence. It was so cool to see the impact that his joyous heart has on so many people around the world!!
We had local elections here recently and it was good to see that the turn out of voters was relatively high. I am grateful that I live in a country that guarantees a free, equal and secret ballot to its citizens.
Recently, I had the chance to send my very first postcard ever. Yes, I know – I’m a beginner, but the experience turned out to be warm and memorable. The lady at the counter had a little note saying “learning,” so it was probably one of her first days on the job. We were both in new situations – me sending a postcard abroad for the first time, and her assisting a customer for the first time.
She was incredibly kind: she calmly checked everything, patiently explained the process, helped me stick the stamps, and made sure the postcard would reach its destination. When I received the message that my first postcard had arrived, my heart skipped a beat and I couldn’t stop smiling. That’s when I realized this is what postcrossing is all about – the joy of sharing a small gesture with another person.
Now, I check my mailbox every day, eagerly awaiting my first postcard. No matter its color, image, or theme, what matters most is that someone took the time to choose it especially for me, write a few kind words, and send it. It’s also a reminder to appreciate all postal workers, sorters, and mail carriers – without them, this simple joy wouldn’t exist.
This small experience showed me that even the simplest, everyday actions can bring peace and happiness – both to the sender and the receiver.
2 days ago I was riding my bike home, a woman passed on her moped and just gave me the peace sign! I thought how uncommon, but so nice! I smiled and waved back. The funny thing is, I went into the post office because I had never been to that one (it is from 1927 and very cute). So I went to buy postcard stamps, and the woman was there also buying stamps! It was a coincidence! 💕✌🏿
We had to pay taxes yesterday so I decided to treat myself to a donut at a local bakery. They make wonderful creations but my "usual" in a plain, old-fashioned one. They only had two left, but one was rather small. So the clerk said she'd give me the second one free! (I didn't need an "extra" donut, though, so I left the big one for someone else. :) ) It was sweet of her, though.
World peace day, Hi, name is LuLu. I had a good long talk to myself on the end of my life. I was wondering what I would do with my post cards. Silly I know. But each card is a bit of someone. So, through prayer, God gave me an idea, and I made it happen. I made up a post card album and sent it to Georgetown Retirement Home for retired Veterans. I am asking for military type post cards. I divided them first with military post cards, then broke them down in countries. I sent my first album off 2 months ago. A gentleman named Vance, is a director there and I sent the book to him. I asked him to look at it first to see if it was in good taste. He then gave it to each of the residents to have a whole day with the book. Then the book will be left to let the others look at it. I am getting ready to send out my second book soon.
If you think about it, these post cards are going to out live us. So why not let others see what is going on in this wonderful world of ours...Thanks
The last weeks have been filled with change in my life. Not the distressing kind but still new, challenging and tiring. My friend has been trying to reach me for some time now but I didn't have the headspace or energy to pick up the phone. Today she called again and we talked. She listened to me and I listened to her. It lifted me up and made my day so much lighter. I am so thankful for the friends in my life. Especially today for her because she just called one more time.
I always try to fit in as many kind gestures as I can every single day, but one act of kindness that I have received was earlier this morning. My mom's birthday is tomorrow and she LOVES pumpkins. After I went in to work to sign off on things for the recent government shutdown, I decided to stop by a small plant nursery to pick up the biggest pumpkin I could for her. The shop owners were so kind to me and gave their condolences, since I don't know when I will be getting paid next, and they were kind enough to let me get a second pumpkin for her for free! It absolutely made my day, and I know that these pumpkins will make my mom's birthday that much brighter!
We recently worked on maintaining the greenery on the municipal property. A lady from the neighborhood brought us tea, coffee, and muffins to make our day better. It was very nice. There are many kind and nice people, they just aren't as visible as the bad ones.
I just gave away 2 kilograms of travel ephemera to a fellow Postcrosser. May she find joy in her creative use of those ticket stubs, maps, and pamphlets.
Our planet seems to be going crazy: there's war here, there's war there. It would be nice if everyone had participated in the "Peace Dove on Stamp" campaign and done everything they could to ensure that we could all live in peace and quiet again.
last week i attended my first ever meet-up and i was surrounded by lovely people! 😍 since german isn't my native language, i was afraid of not understanding and not being understood, but all members were really nice and said it wasn't a problem to say something in english ☺️ (but i've managed to speak german the whole time 😎) and i was so happy because such a thing almost never happened before and i'm very grateful and appreciate it 🥰
I interact daily with many people due to my job. Most of them know me for a few years now so they are confortable to tell me things that upset them, things they wish were different or just little joys. I believe that brings them peace of mind, so I'm glad I can contribute to that.💚
In my community, we have a group online called Buy Nothing. I have been giving things away for free that I no longer need so others can benefit from their use. Many other people do the same as well and it is so wonderful to see.
Postcrossing is such a world of beautiful acts of kindness! From from the single card chosen to brighten a stranger's day to the sweet exchanges on the forum to the person who hosts a meet-up and brings us all together to meeting a new postcrosser in the wild and sharing our delight to getting to know your letter carrier because of all the postcards you get, it brings us all a little closer in all the best way. 💌 🕊️
Small act of kindness are never too small. My neighbors and I often exchange food to keep us bonded and avoid any waste !
A Small Envelope, A Larger World
Dear Judges,
Last week my ordinary mailbox became a doorway. Inside was an envelope from Slovenia, its foreign postmarks like tiny stars. When I opened it, a beautiful postcard slid into my palm—an image of a blue sky over green hills—and tucked behind it, a slim banknote, crisp as a leaf. I stood in my doorway and smiled at a stranger’s kindness, feeling the world draw a little closer.
That simple envelope changed my day in three quiet ways. First, it reminded me that generosity travels without a visa. Someone far away chose a card, wrote words just for me, and shared a small piece of their daily life—a banknote that had passed through cafés and markets I have never seen. Paper, ink, and a stamp turned their time into something I could touch. Second, it proved that peace is not abstract. It is made of tiny, do‑able moment choosing to connect, to trust, to share beauty. Finally, it asked me to answer with my own hands.
So I did. I wrote back at once, adding a photo from my city and a note about the mango seller who calls everyone “friend.” I slipped in a small banknote of my own, not as payment but as a promise: I will keep the chain of kindness unbroken. Then I put a bottle of cold water on my gate for our mail carrier with a thank‑you note. For delivering little pieces of the world That afternoon I sat with an elderly neighbor and addressed postcards together for her grandchildren. Peace, I realized, doesn’t arrive only with the post; it also departs from our living rooms, our front steps, our kitchen tables.
The embroidered Dove of Peace stamp inspires me because its message is literally stitched. Threads cross and lock, one after another, until a picture appears. Human peace is the same. We stitch it with patient, everyday gestures, listening before speaking, writing instead of scrolling, choosing curiosity over suspicion. A stranger’s postcard from Slovenia stitched me to a person I may never meet, yet now I carry a piece of their country in my wallet and a piece of their kindness in my pocket.
It is easy to underestimate these small actions. They don’t make headlines. They don’t trend. But they do something more important: they humanize. A postcard says, I paused my busy life and thought of you. A banknote says, Here’s a little window into where I live. A reply says, I see you, too. If enough of us keep exchanging these windows, we may start to see the world as a neighborhood rather than a map.
I cannot negotiate peace treaties, but I can honor the treaty of everyday decency. I can keep writing, keep thanking, keep sending out notes stitched with goodwill. Last week’s envelope from Slovenia turned my day into a small celebration. Today, I’m trying to turn that feeling into a habit.
May our letters travel further than our fears. May our stamps carry more than postage; may they carry patience. And may each of us keep sewing one more quiet stitch into the shared fabric we call peace—one postcard, one kind word, one welcoming doorbell at a time.
With hope and gratitude,
Captain KIM
I try to hold contact to many people (which became friends) of different countries and religions.
I wish everyone would value to live in a peaceful word -no more war -just peace!
Just learned about these stamps and I love the concept!
I received two vaccines yesterday. I don't have a phobia of needles, but I always appreciate when pharmacists are patient and chat with me to take my mind off it anyway. Yesterday, the woman giving me shots was telling me about her dog and just generally friendly in a situation where she must know people can be stressed. I liked that and it made my day better.
I love the stamp and the sentiment. I love sending random acts of kindness cards to people who aren’t expecting them.
I belong to some RR's that have members in the Russia and Belarus. The US cannot currently send cards to them. There are several members that are always willing to forward our cards on to them so they can fully participate. I love the willingness and the support.
I think there should always be world peace. Kindness should be apart of everyone’s life. One thing I absolutely love about postcrossing and postcarding in general is that there is no discrimination, no anger, just love and kindness. I try to always be kind and give more than what is expected. I pray that there will be world peace because we are all human beings just trying to live.

this week i work from Monday to Friday, while my hubby only 3 days in a week. what a surprise is he took me to office with motorcycle, so i save an hour if i go with public transport.
because he is kind of person who seldom show his love, and because of that i love him more <3
I tried to understand, what are all the reasons which affect the peace. Most basic or important criteria is poverty. When someone doesn't have enough to run his day-to-day life, jumps into performing any sort of malpractices which turns to be violent one day. Hence, I decided to celebrate my son's birthday in a different way. I offered a small portion to an orphanage of about 40 children who had a day's meal and in turn offered prayer and wishes on my son's birthday. Let us all take a small step towards peace which will one day bring merry.
When everyone is after Piece, of this and that, Peace seems a distant dream. Anyway, let's hope for the best..
I try to help in every occasion that I can do it, doesn't matter the person need to be helped!
A recent small act of kindness that truly brightened my spirits happened last week while I was in the hospital, recovering from a sudden, undiagnosed kidney stone. During my stay, my nurse went above and beyond her duties—not just with medical care, but by sharing little home remedies that had helped people in her own family. Each remedy came with a funny or relatable story, and despite the pain, her anecdotes made me smile and feel cared for. Her warmth and light-hearted stories were a real comfort and a reminder of the small gestures that make tough times easier to bear.
Several days ago,one of my PC cards was sent to another local postcrosser by mistake. She kindly dialled the telephone number in my address and even managed to send this card to me. Such act of kindness warms me a lot.
I have a disability and I walk slowly. Recently, a young couple stood at the door of a train so that it wouldn't leave without me while I was walking along the platform.
I like to treat people kindly. When I go out, I like greeting others with a good morning and thank people whenever I can, not just with a simple "thanks", but with a heartfelt "thank you so much." Often, instead of saying "you're welcome", although I prefer to say "the pleasure is mine", I end up replying thank you as well because I like being grateful for even the smallest things in life. I love treating others as I would like to be treated.
