Every year on September 21st, the International Day of Peace is celebrated around the world. It’s a reminder that peace isn’t just the absence of conflict, but something we actively build in our daily lives, in the way we treat ourselves, our neighbors, our communities, and the planet. Small gestures of kindness, understanding, and cooperation add up, like stitches in a fabric, creating something stronger and more beautiful together.
This year’s theme for the International Day of Peace is Act Now for a Peaceful World. It’s a call to remind us that peace isn’t something abstract or far away: it’s built through our daily choices and actions. From standing up against unkindness, to listening to voices different from our own, to volunteering in our communities, each of us can play a part.
This year, several postal administrations joined forces to celebrate peace in a very tangible way: through a special embroidered postage stamp. The “Dove of Peace” stamp is literally stitched out of thread by the Austrian embroidery house Hämmerle & Vogel, and features a dove carrying an olive branch. It’s being issued jointly by postal services from Åland, Armenia, Austria, Barbados, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and the three offices of the United Nations.
More than just a philatelic novelty, the embroidered Dove of Peace stamp is meant as a symbol and a commitment. Like embroidery, peace requires patience, daily effort, and care. And through the vast network of the postal system, this little dove can fly around the world carrying its message of hope and unity.

To celebrate this initiative and World Peace Day, Austria Post and Liechtenstein Post have kindly offered us 20 of these embroidered stamps to give away (10 from each country).
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment below sharing a small act of kindness or gesture of peace that has brightened your day recently. Comments will be opened until October 5, at which point we’ll draw 20 winners at random and have one of these special stamps mailed to them.
On this World Peace Day (and every day!), may our small acts of kindness and connection (like a postcard, a smile, or a shared story) add up to something bigger!

Hope the world peace!
This is wonderful, and a reminder of one of the most important shared tenets worldwide: a goal of peace.
I received a postcard yesterday from Jeff Weiss, who, in an interview with his local paper, said, “ When I receive a postcard, I know that the sender sat down and wrote it with intention, with me in mind. The paper, stamps and ink are physical manifestations of their gift of time,” he said. “It’s a sense of connection, however fleeting and random.”
That connection sows peace…one postcard at a time.
Last week my mailman rang the doorbell to deliver a larger postcard. He said he didn't want to force it into the mailbox to not damage it. I thought that was really kind of him, considering I've aready had postcards damaged for that same reason.
Oh I forgot to add that I wish the U.S. had joined to support this project!
My electric coffee grinder broke down this morning and my husband spent quite some time manually grinding coffee beans for my morning coffee using a glass jar and a glass as mortar and pestle. :-)
Recently a friend has given me a batch of new stamps to use for postcrossing.
I hope people all over the world can live a peaceful life. I also hope the concept of peace can reach more regions.
Last week I was trying to buy 2 books at a store, but I realized I had forgotten my wallet in my car. I rushed to my car, and when I came back inside, the cashier said that the person who had been behind me in line paid for my books. I thought that was so kind! I wish I could have said thank you to them, but they had already driven away. :,) Thank you for the giveaway!
A friend sent me a beautiful card from a local artist and included some stamps from his collection that relate to topics I collect. It really brightened what had been a not-so-great day up to that point :)
I’m working part-time in a supermarket and there’s a customer who always buys a little snack or something to drink for the employees when he does his shopping! It brightens up my shift everytime he comes by :)
I always think it is so kind when recipients of my cards register with a note to me that is more than just "thanks for the card". The last two that were registered were very thoughtful in their messages to me and their words really made my day!
In the postcard I received recently, the British girl sent me a tea bag and a scone recipe. It made me feel great for a week.
I want people all over the world to be peaceful.
I had some health issues lately, to the point where I suspected I might end up in the hospital again. That would kind of get in the way of a beautiful artistic project I have been fortunate to be part of. I let a dear friend/my soul brother know about this and he called me immediately. Hearing his voice was so heartwarming and only solidified what I already know, how caring, understanding human being he is...
What a poignant article with such a beautiful message! The dove stamp is gorgeous. May we all endeavor to be kind to one another and to spread peace, all over the world. :)
This is such a nice thing, lovely to read everyone else s stories!
A colleague noticed that I was having a tricky day and left a chocolate bar on my desk for me.
Kindness is everywhere these days. We are hosting someone escaping a bad place in our apartment, rent free. Neighbors are sharing garden abundance with us. We share extra food with neighbors and friends.
I donate decants of indie nail polish to a mental health organization, and hearing how it's helped people open up, or be able to care for themselves in a way not usually open to them, really made my heart feel full <3
Kindness is a good thing - you never know who you may uplift through a simple act of kindness. Some examples: Recently a fellow postcrosser I know from a few meetings and a Facebook group we are members of sent me an unsolicited card - just to say hi! It meant so much to me! I also have neighbors who are foodsharers - once in a while, on a Sunday or holiday, they leave baked goods at doorsteps throughout our building - including mine. It's just wonderful. When I go for coffee with someone, I love surprising them by picking up the tab for their coffee.
About two months ago, I was travelling in another city and my phone slipped out of my pocket when I got out of an uber. I was so frustrated and helpless at the moment I found out. To my most surprise, the uber driver returned to my drop-off place in a very short time! The next passenger saw my phone on the seat and they were so kind to take extra time to send it back. This literally saved my life.
I got a batch of blank postcards from one of my aunts, she didn't need them.
Today I joined in a meditation group with members of my spiritual community and their words about courage and hope felt uplifting and nourishing, and was much needed.
Being in community with others with shared values and kindness and compassion really filled my heart with love and gratitude this morning. It really brightened my day.
Lovely stamp! As an embroiderer, I'm always happy to see stitchery in the spotlight :)
We get most of our veggies from an organic farm at the local university. Recently the farmers scaled back one week's share so they could provide more crops to students at a mini farmer's market they do, which provides them good food at really affordable prices. It's so kind that they go to such lengths to supply them at the start of the year!
I gradually do pregnancy announcements to my closed ones, and everyone is so kind and positive to me 🥹
As a US citizen the concept of peace feels impossible most days. But I have hope that we will get through this time of turmoil. I love this community and I find so much joy in meeting each and every person. I get thank you cards from RAC contacts that I’ve sent cards too and knowing that they took that time to reach out to me… is such a great way to spread peace, hope and love in this world. Thank you for this chance to win.
A neighbor's son who likes to garden gave me a bunch of delicious cilantro he'd grown. I've been using a little every day and appreciating the effort he put into growing it and the kindness he showed in sharing it.
I was recently invited to dinner by a lovely woman, who asked me about the kinds of food I can and cannot eat so that she could accommodate me. My religion prohibits a LOT of things, and as I listed them out I felt bad about just how many things there were that I couldn’t eat, so I apologized for the inconvenience I was potentially causing. She told me “I can learn more about your religion and culture by knowing what you can’t eat. Thank you for teaching me about your culture and helping me grow.” That was the kindest possible answer anyone could have given me, and it made me feel so much better about myself and my needs. Living in such a different country is difficult, but it’s lovely people like this that make it so worth going out of your comfort zone!
On holiday in Devon with my girlfriend and her mother - a friend who is vaguely local insisted on taking time out from their day and personally collecting us from the station to give us the full guided tour of the area on the way to our accommodation 😊
Lately, I kept receiving mail meant for a fellow post crosser from my city. I took the time to redirect each piece and make sure it reached them safely. It was a small effort, but knowing their postcards got to the right hands really brightened my day.
Recently, I shared a good story in a local group. A mother took her child to Costco. The child wanted to buy a toy but the family refused, so the child started crying. The Costco clerk did not get angry at the child for crying, but encouraged the child and gave him a hug, which made him stop crying and go home happily. This will help more customers understand the concept of tolerance and respect.
A smile from a stranger you pass by on the street no matter their religion, country of origine is in my point of view a tiny gesture or peace and makes me smile also
Sadly I don't forsee World Peace anytime soon. I really hope I am wrong, that would be a great thing. Could this be because the peaceful people on this Earth don't step forward more ?
i work in a store and a few weeks ago I received a package in the mail from a customer of the store that had a stamp, a bookmark and blank postcards from the Portuguese island where she has a house. As she knows I like PostCrossing, she sent me the gift, I was so surprised and thankful that she notice what I like and took time to prepare the gifs and send it💕
Reading these stories of kindness and thoughtfulness gives me hope during this time of unease and unrest.
Very beautiful!!
Let's hope for world peace very soon!
Little gestures of kindness are everywhere. From our neighbours, for instance. We have a neighbour who every now and then bake us some sweets. And they taste really good!
Today I've seen so many people give up their seats on the train for others, just because. ❤️
Today, I shared a few books in a little free library and am assembling items to donate to a favored charity shop tomorrow.
Love that stamp 🕊️!I love postcrossing but I’m fully housebound and have been for the past 2 years. It means I can’t get to the postbox but parents friends and carers are always so kind and post my mail for me 🥰
The second week of the school year I received the kindness message. It was juat what I needed to brighten my day. The message was heartfelt and warm. Because the author missed a friend in Germany they also shared their friends favorite chocolate. I then shared the treat with everyone around me anl9ng with the message. Receiving mail is a gift all in it self. Sharing messages with thought and kindness can change a person one read at a time.
Thank you and Happy Postcrossing!
Peace around the world, so that we may never experience the horrors of war
A neighbor said good morning as they walked by. It's a simple thing, but it made me feel connected.
Peace shall spared like a infection
Marienda/Helga
It's so nice to read through these many acts of kindness! I'm hoping for more peace in the world.
What a beautiful initiative! An act of kindness that meant a lot to me recently was when I was working during a heatwave, I was delivering mail and one of the people living on my route offered me a cold bottle of water from their fridge since my bottle had become lukewarm by that time. It was just a bottle of water but it meant so much!
What a lovely stamp! Just a few moments ago, I saw a video on Reddit about a woman feeding street cats. There were around ten of them, each with its own small paper plate. A simple yet touching scene.
The other day, an old friend of mine sent me just a peace sign emoji, without a single word. We had been distant for a long time. That tiny gesture was louder than all the silence, and we both knew in that moment the conflict was over. 🕊️🕊️🤍
I wish all of us on this tiny little planet to have a day of peace.
It is so beautiful. I would be proud to have it. So much conflict here and around the world.
I'm a teacher, and my students are four years old. The group I currently have in my class is made up of sweet, kind little people who care for and help each other. I'm currently on sick leave, waiting to begin radiation therapy. Since the school is very close to my house, I stopped by a few days ago to say hello to my coworkers and "my kids." The hugs from my students, and especially the concern of one of the girls ("you're sick, you should go home and rest"), brightened my day and touched my heart.
On this special day, we received at home magnets with our vacation photos! Beautiful moments, full of smiles!
Smiles that should be seen all over the world... a world where peace reigns everywhere and everyone can give a smile to others.

At home we had an art print of Picassos peace dove - I did love the bird I called it as a kid and my dad explained me the meaning of the peace dove. Just had to think about it when I saw this adorable stamp and brought me back to such wonderful meaningful moment in life - tiny treasures in my heart.
I try to send a little happiness to people in care institutions by send cards, letters and postcards through an online group called Letters Against Isolation.
I was given a beautiful silver First Nations pendant of a "peace bird". I have been wearing it as much as possible lately, wanting to give wing to the energy it carries.
When I joined Postcrossing I decided I would close all of my postcards with the signature "Peace to you." I am always heartened when the recipient then includes "peace" in their thank you response! No matter who we are or where we're sending from or to, we can all send peace around our world, as if braiding the globe in our good wishes of hope.
My moment of peace is when I receive a postcard, when I drink a new flavor of tea, rainy days, the aroma of fresh coffee in the morning, the drops of dew in the early morning.
I found a bundle of postcards in a public book case. I bring books to the case from time to time and this time noticed that someone put the cards in there to give them away. 20 postcards, all unwritten, from his holidays, I think. It was so unexpected and I was so happy for a much longer time than just that moment, looked at them and felt joy. Thanks to the unknown giver.
Sending peace and unity one postcard at a time. How I have signed most of my postcards. Love this!
I wish to free Palestine on this International Day of Peace, hoping for justice, dignity, and freedom for all people living there. May peace replace suffering and may humanity stand united against oppression.
A gesture of peace that has brightened my day recently was the ability to attend an Indigenous blessing for a new space that my office recently moved into. It was an honour to be present, witness the cedar brushing and to learn from the Elder that provided the blessing.
A student of mine has just written a note to me, thanking me, that my compliments for her work have been so incredibly important to her and do still have a positive impact on her. It brought tears to my eyes.
I'm really enjoying the feeling of anticipation of receiving "happy" mail. It's great to connect with people from around the world. I'm so glad that I found this site.
My artist neighbor gifted me a set of Georgia O'Keefe postcards (30) to share with this community. A future moment of peace for 30 Postcrossers.
My 3 year old brought me tiny bundles of flowers while we were at the park yesterday. By the way, his middle name Callum means dove, the bird of peace.
Today my husband returned home from visiting with his daughter. She and her husband had taken a trip to Greece last year and remembering my love of postcards, bought me some from Greece. I was quite touched, as it is the land of some of my ancestors yet I will never visit. I look forward to sharing these with Postcrossers. I hope to receive one of these beautiful stamps on postcards. I collect Peace Dove stamps: they are beautiful all together, like people when they set their hearts on justice and peace.
I want there to be peace in the world.
My grandchildren wait for the postman to bring them postcards every day. They are happy when he comes.
I occasionally pick up litter in our neighborhood with a group of neighbors. When I passed an elderly woman with a walker, I received a compliment and she wanted to give me a hug. I told her I didn't really feel clean with my old clothes, gloves, garbage bag, and litter picker. She didn't care, she said. I felt so appreciated that she thought I was making the world a little more beautiful this way. I still feel happy about it now.
ive been incredibly sick for the past few weeks but i still try to show up for work when i can. something that always brightens my day is when the little ones (i'm a kindergarten teacher) run up to me to hug me and tell me they missed me. one of my kids even pointed out my photo in the hallway ( we have a wall showcasing all of our staff) and told me he thinks mine is the prettiest. i don't know why, but stuff like that, the honesty and love and kindness from children really fulfills me.
Yes to world peace! - To doing kind things every day.
We promoted Postcrossing at Hobbies Fair, and were sponsoring cards. Some sellers at the Fair kindly donated their wares (art they were selling as cards) for us to give away ☺️
Vrede op aarde en begin met jezelf!
peace and love are our common goal
Recently received a card from a soldier in Ukraine....his message was that postcards make days brighter.....
dreaming of peace onnthe whole world. what gives a little hope to me is when strangers smile back on the street
Yesterday as my elderly mother who uses a walker and I were leaving her doctor's office, one of the other patients in the waiting room noticed we were getting ready to leave. He walked over to the front door and kindly opened it and held it for us as we exited. This may seem like a small gesture, but it really made our day because oftentimes no one helps us and I'm concerned that my mother is going to trip on the doormat as she goes through the doorway. This way, I was able to stay with her (instead of going ahead of her to open and hold the door) and make sure that she didn't fall.
The other day my manager Molly could see that I had lots to do and not enough time, so she helped me by clearing our Merchandise Picking Trolleys of cardboard and rubbish saving me about 20 minutes.
It is so nice to read all the wonderful stories! Since WPD is approaching, I have been sending out the original card early and have received several thank-you cards back in return...made my day, because our community here at Postcrossing appreciate the senders! My motto has been..do something for others everyday!
People are so kind and I try to repay it whenever I can. This morning, the manager of my local pet store gave me quite a lot of nearly expired cat food and samples to help with my rescues.
Wir bekommen von unserer Vermieterin jedes 2. Wochenende einen selbstgebackenen kleinen leckeren Kuchen oder Torte. Einfach nur so.
Hello from the USA 🇺🇸. I try to volunteer as much as I can and yesterday did a beach clean up. Helping animals and our environment!
On our recent trip to Yellowstone NP, we sat next to a woman traveling with her sister and brother, waiting for the next eruption of Old Faithful. She and I made small talk and I learned that she had made all the arrangements to bring her siblings there, especially her older sister who had wished to return since she had visited 60 years ago as a young girl. I thought at the time this was definitely a labor of love, driving from California to Texas then flying to Montana with her siblings. She turned back to talk to her family, and I did the same with my husband. Then I was aware she was talking to me again and realized she was offering me a stick of gum. As silly as it seems, that unexpected small gesture was so meaningful to me coming from a stranger whom I had just met. It stayed with me for days afterwards...the impact of small kindnesses like a stick of gum.
The ladies (and our kids) go every other month to Cherokee Children's Home to visit with the girls there, enjoy lunch, make a craft and have a devotional. But this time, the men and boys in our youth group went! I think they were a little nervous, but did a wonderful job encouraging these young boys. Building a strong community and young adults is such a good work.
My best friend drove me to the airport at 3:00 in the morning so I could be at the airrport right on time for my early morning flight at 6 o'clock. So sweet.
I Love You. ❤️
What a beautiful stamp and love the thought behind it. I came in with my hands full of groceries last week and hours later my neighbor noticed my garage door was open. He rang my bell to tell me.
Beautiful stamps with such an important message 🥰
When ordering in an online shop, the sender put some candy inside the package with my order. It is just a small gesture, but it still brightened my day
I like small pieces of peace and kindness, like carrying an old man’s suitcase up the train’s stairs. It can inspire all of us to do something similar!
Sending and receiving postcards can help us get closer together and let us understand other cultures - a big part of achieving peace <3
My wife and I had the privilege of giving a presentation to our local stamp club about Postcrossing, a topic they hadn't heard about. Afterwards, one of the gentlemen approached us to tell us that his daughter is an elementary school teacher. He texted her during out presentation when we talked about our happiness to draw a teacher's address and the classrooms participating in Postcrossing to learn geography, mail systems and the joy of receiving mail. It meant so much to us that he shared this wonderful hobby with someone who can teach children about sharing joy and a bit of peace through the simple act of writing a post card. It was a good day.
I’ve always thought when Pandora opened the box and let out all the nasties of the world and left HOPE in the box she should have reversed that. I know my hope is locked away in some long gone box so I have no hope for peace. I believe Humans aren’t capable of peace nationally or globally. But individually we are very capable of extraordinary acts of kindness towards one another. We must see each and every one on the earth as an individual! Yes, John Lennon, we need to pleeeeese give peace a chance!📦 Hope inside.
When my cousin's husband got to know, that I can't receive cards from the countries that don't mail to Russia, he offered to be my intermediator and has already mailed to me cards from the USA, Canada, and Australia several times. I am very grateful to him and to the Postcrossing members who agreed to this variant, as they have to wait a long time for the cards to reach me.
I find Postcrossers to be some of the kindest people in the world!!
Each week, I visite my neighbour, she is 87 y.o. and her husband, 90 y.o. is very ill. Yesterday when I leaved her, she told me that she was happy to know me. It warmed my heart! My visits are such a very little thing but I see that it's important for her. Thank you for the lottery and Happy Postcrossing. May Peace come on Earth.
A new friend agreed to exchange artwork through mail, despite the fact our two gome nations are practically in a cold war with eachother, there's so much connection to be made through art
This stamp is soo special and beautiful! I am really sorry, that Germany did not join the Cooperation!
Acts of kindness: Yesterday we visited a town festivity with different offers in the street. One offer was to create your own postcard with Materials they provided - but not only that… they even sent them out for us!
We recently got some fruits for making jam from different people, because we have no trees on our own.
Just before reading this blog I read an email from a work collegue, which made me angry, but I really tried to answer in a call way so not to push a conflict. 🙂
Thank You for the Chance to get one of these stamps, and for reading all these nice situations of kindness.
This act of kindness didnt involve me but I witnessed it. We are visiting Paris and stopped quickly for takeout before catching our bus. I saw a homeless person go to the counter and ask for food and they did not acknowledge him. Another patron lady went over to the kiosk, ordered a meal and when the number was called the lady gave the homeless man the ticket and said "it's for you". A simple act of kindness! Made me feel warm and fuzzy just to witness that gesture.
This last few months I have been doing some Bible studies through the mail! I read the scriptures to respond to and send off my note to my chosen partner (who is often a Postcrosser:) Much of the time I receive an added blank postcard along with other fun things. We now check in with each other in between studies. The correspondence is lovely! Postcrossing has blessed my life so much and now I’ve found an additional way to share with others! Mail is such a simple way to make others smile!
2025 is a particularly special year to remember World Peace, there is so much negativity and conflict everywhere you look, it’s quite disheartening
I’m very proud that my small nation of Luxembourg is one of the countries that participated in the join issue of the Dove of Peace, I actually went to the philatelic bureau on Friday to get one of these stamps and FDC
A recent act of kindness that stands out to me is we were on holidays not long ago in Spain and an older lady on a bike just took the corner badly and fell off her bike. All the people who were nearly rushed to help her get up and gather her belongings that had fallen off and scattered. I don’t speak Spanish but it certainly sounded like a number of people were asking how she was doing and if she needed any further help.
I write postcards to voters to try to bring peace back to the USA one vote at a time. It is hard right now to see how embarrassing my country is being represented by a person that puts greed above peace. It heals my heart a little whenever I see one other person hope for peace in person or through postcrossing.
My friends knew I was devastated when my husband & I seperated. Three of my artist friends got together & drew me amazing, personalized photos for my wall. It was a huge surprise when they came in the mail. I happy cried for an hour straight. Everytime I look at my wall I'm reminded how lucky & supported I am.
We had a team day outside of work on Friday and one of my colleagues bought my lunch for me which I had forgotten at work. That was really nice of her! It would have spoiled over the weekend, and I had something to eat during the day. <3
Peace in heart due to yoga
Peace in mind due to postcards
Peace on Earth due to human kind (why not?)
I know this is not my act of kindness but my mum runs (and plays in) a brass group called Play It Forward. She does this to raise money for lots of charities (she and the brass group don't ask for any money for themselves) and has raised over £40,000 for different charities so far.
The fact today Canada, Australia and UK has Recognized Palestinian statehood had made my day.Wishing all the peace the people of Palestine deserve! 🇵🇸
I mentioned in my profile that I’m interested in stamps, and I recently received a postcard with some extras on it. Out of curiosity, I looked up the stamps and was surprised to find out they’re quite valuable. It was super kind of this user to share these with me. ☺️ Hope to be able to spread the same joy receiving postcards brings to me to others.
Last friday I got a big hug from a man for our volenteer work at the foodbank. I realise that a for me little thing have so much impact. Not only the food we give, but more that we see them.
This is an awesome stamp! Would love to buy one. Remember to spread kindness like confetti. 💜💙❤️
Palestine being recognized as an independent state by some countries may lead to lasting peace - one can only hope.
Yesterday, a girl I know from middle school (over a decade ago) reached out and we chatted a bit about old days. She said she found me inspiring because I pursued my dream field, which was quite nice to hear since I’m struggling a bit… It was nice that she went out of her way to express positive thoughts and feelings towards someone who she hasn’t talked to in a while. I think many feel like doing such things but find that it might be awkward or unnecessary, while the truth is that we all need a pick-up sometime.
I have send some postcards for the coming Christmas to the Ukrainians soldiers. And I am dreaming of peace every day. Give Peace a Chance by John Lennon. :D
Peace as you and I wish ,to make the world a better place to live .
It is not only Austria, Swiss Post (where Liechtenstein belongs to) also sells these ones. I just bought one :) and looking forward to it.
On this World day of peace, which is coincidently Leonard Cohen's birthday, I started collecting materials for a collage with scraps of lyrics from his song "Anthem" which feels so topical these days.
The dove is a beautiful animal to represent peace.
And I think the turtle would also be a fitting animal to represent peace.
While war starts quickly and spreads easily like a fire, peace is slow to come, stopping conflicts and repairing damage, like a turtle...
Despite everything, peace marches determinedly toward its goal, even if it means taking winding paths instead of a straight line, and it can take years...
But let's be optimistic, let's believe in peace, that impertinent turtle that isn't afraid to face war.
And let's imagine ourselves walking slowly but surely, with a dove as light as a feather perched on its shell.

I try to send a note or card to someone every day. You never know when it will be the highlight of someone's day! Certainly no one ever complains about receiving snail mail!

These are the weeks of :" De grote club actie" in the Netherlands. You buy some tickets from Children. The money goes to support their club. Music / Sport / Art. So kids can keep up these activities. As a Teacher I try to spot the shy Kids and help them sell their Tickets.
I was able to write a wonderful good moral character letter for my longtime neighbor and friend for her application for U.S. citizenship.
I wish the US had joined the stamp issue! Such a beautiful piece of art. My neighbor's cat made me happy today because he stopped hissing at me! :)
Happy World Peace Day
This summer, a friend of mine went to Amsterdam before starting a 100-mile military ruck walk just north of the city. We visited Amsterdam in the spring, so ahead of her trip we caught up on the phone. I gave her highlights from our trip, lists of places to see, and food to eat. I told her in passing about how much I regretted not buying the blank Anne Frank journal at the Anne Frank House. Shortly after she returned home, I received a package in the mail—inside was the journal wrapped in a paper bag from the Anne Frank House (she also remembered I love ephemera). I was completely surprised and so touched by her thoughtfulness.
A friend of mine knew one been struggling financially lately and put off the blue venmoed me $25. It's small acts of kindness like this that help communities remain afloat! This pertain has always been dear to me, but it's no nice knowing they listen and they care.
When I work at our supermarket, I help the elderly, and even if they are rude to me, I treat them with respect, knowing that there must be a reason for it.
I enrolled in university after a long career. I am a mature student in a sea of youths! A few days later, young lady that I sat beside in one tutorial noticed me in the hallway, called me by name and said hi! She wasn’t embarrassed and I felt a little less out of place that moment. We can help foster peace by making connections with people that we may not normally associate with.
A couple days ago I walked into the post office and had to go to the counter to get an envelope weighed. Walking into the space there was a gentleman completing filling out a form. He should have been next to step up to the counter. However with his outstretched arm he ushered me in front of him. A lesson in kindness and the joy of slowing down.
Earlier this summer, I was spending time with my best friend's family and friends at a Waterpark. At one point, I was looking after one of the kids (not related to me) who wanted to ride the water slides with me. I was more than twice her age so I was touched that she thought I was cool and fun to spend time with. At one point she said that, "You are so nice, why are you so nice" and it got me thinking. There would be more peace and love in the world if we all took more time to be kind and understanding. So, I told the little girl, "Life is short and I would rather be nice, and a little bit of kindness makes the world a better place." The little girl seemed happy with my response. It's easy to be mean and to not care, but to go out of your way to be kind and understanding that takes effort the best kind of effort! This positive effort will make you feel lighter and free!!! A little bit of kindness and understanding makes the world a better place!!!
My little dog Nelli, the only family member I live with, was about to die several times during August. I had to spent all my money and take loans (totally more than 5000 euros) to pay all the treatments needed. I'm on my early pension because of several illnesses. Lovely people have helped me by collecting more than 2000 euros to help me. That's what Love is. Helping others. 💕 I'm so Thankful 🙏🏼
How cool!
Recently, I got a compliment on a shirt I was wearing in public by a stranger and it made my day. I have been feeling pretty down about myself so that was a nice feeling of a small kind connection :)
I love the stamp and message 🕊️
I’m mostly housebound but my mum specially drives my postcards to the local post office so they get off to a good start 🥰 I’m very lucky ❤️
Today I opened the Postcrossing Blog site and was "greeted" with the beautiful, embroidered DOVE stamp along with the heartwarming kindness stories from fellow Postcrossers.
It reminded me that I may not have taken time from my own "busy-ness" at home to share an extra kind word to members of my own family, or to my neighbors. And I often fail to take a quiet (peaceful) moment to reflect on what is really important in Life.
It's so simple. Peace (and Kindness) begins at Home -- it radiates from there (like the Dove of Peace or our friendly postcard greetings) to all corners of the World.
So, I kindly send this thought on to you and wish you Peace, Joy, & Love on this International Day of Peace, and Always.
I received a surprise birthday package with an uplifting handmade mini canvas inside from Postcrosser kristinape. This year has been especially difficult and this surprise made my day!
I made a new friend thru postcrossing who lives in Ukraine. With the worlds tragedies, this new budding friendship has extra special meaning to me. I sent off an envelope of some goodies that will hopefully give a little brightness in what might be dark days. I have never been through something like this in my own country, so if I can do something so simple, it is worth it.
Peace be with you!
What a beautiful stamp!! 🕊️
I became fast friends with a dear Postcrosser at my very first meet-up in July. She recently sent me an envelope of WPD postcards for me to send on Oct 1! 🤗
The stamps looks beautiful! :)
