Blog > July Writing prompt: your favorite ice-cream flavor!
The writing prompts invite postcrossers to write about a different topic on their postcard’s messages every month. These are just suggestions though — if you already know what you want to write about, or the recipient gives you some pointers, that’s great too!
July is here and temperatures in most of Europe lately have been sizzling… (45°C/113°F in France! 😰) It’s way too hot to think about complicated writing topics, so this month we’re keeping it simple and suggesting a refreshing escape with an icy treat.

Though super popular in the summer, ice-creams are a hit in all seasons, so whether it’s summer or winter where you are, it’s always a good time to consume one.
Among the team, our taste choices go to carob and orange for Paulo, coconut milk and corn for me, and Ben and Jerry’s fairy floss for Vicki in Australia. That Unicornetto on the right was a thing of beauty though… have you ever tasted an ice-cream made of unicorns? 🦄
So what about you, do you have a favorite ice-cream flavor? And are there perhaps some flavors that are specific to your country? We invite you to write about them on the postcards you send out this month!

In Vietnam, we have coconut ice cream inside a coconut, so after you finish your ice cream you can eat fresh coconut, sometimes you can be served a glass of fresh coconut water! So fresh and yummy! ❤️
What a fun idea for a writing prompt. ;-)
cream, chocolate and pistachio.
Better if with whipped cream (panna montata) on it.
Unfortunately, with age, I become lactose intolerant, so I can't eat as much ice-cream as I wanted. :(
P.s. in the green field you wrote June instead of July. ;)
@hobbymail Sadly, coconut milk + corn is not a Portuguese flavour... but if you're ever in Asia, give it a try!
But Vanilla, Coco,Chocolate, Pistachio, Strawberry !
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
(A few years ago, I tried a beer sorbet - not bad, but still strange. :D)
My fav?! - the one that sounds good to me and I feel peckish for in the moment :)

Beautiful summer for all !
I do also like pineapple, coconut, and vanilla though too!!! Vanilla in every part of the world has tasted wonderful to me!!
I one I liked was lime ice cream with solid kiwi (bird) shaped chocolate shapes in it! Unfortunately when I went back last year they didn't have it but I found a very nice lemon-lime flavour one.
Did I mention I hate coconut?
There is a fantastic alcohol called La Charteuse (green, yellow,..). And a fantastic ice-cream with Green Chartreuse. It's my favorite because it's very good and completly typisch of my area. If you have the opportunity, taste it !
Panapnetfuncky.
In winter, pistacchio, or hazelnut, or chocolate.
in ThermoMix and it only takes 2 minutes. with frozen fruits (strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, apple, kiwi, etc.)
great for cooling down, in this nice weather !! And done quickly!
For my part, I love it!

I love ice cream by Grunschnabel, basil lime is my favourite.
Morelli's has Parma Violet, and banana flavours, which are my favourites.
Maud's has Poor Bear (vanilla with honeycomb bits), and choc-mallow.
Glastry Farm has a flavour unique to a tourist attraction, Mount Stewart. This flavour has to be my hands-down favourite - lavender and raspberry. It's very fragrant, and lovely to have on a warm summer's day - the lavender is subtle, while the raspberry is sweet but not too sweet.
Mmm! Here's a DIY for making avocado ice cream:

I also like passion fruit -yoghurt ice cream. :)
Lemon sherbet is another favourite.
** Enjoy **
Favorite would have to be vanilla. Vanilla matches with any other flavour.
When it's as hot as it has been these last days, I prefer sorbets though, which are more refreshing. Mango is always great, but a few days ago I tasted a delicious ginger sorbet and I still remember a tasty lemon/peppermint sorbet which I ate a few years ago.
