Good news from Moldova, the most recent country to issue a Postcrossing-themed stamp!
Isn’t it a cute one? We love how the postcards zoom all around the world, taking a happy Moldovan postcrosser with them.
The stamp was drawn by Lilian Iaţco, and 120,000 stamps have been printed, as well as postcards and first-day covers to mark the occasion. Sadly, we believe these will only be available in local post offices for now, as Moldova Post doesn’t have a philatelic online shop yet.
As is becoming a tradition, a meetup is taking place today to celebrate the launch of the stamp and use the cancellation mark made for the occasion. The event will take place in Chisinau’s Central Post Office, which might be familiar to some from last year’s event that brought together Moldovan and Romanian postcrossers.
We look forward to seeing this new stamp make its way around the world on many future postcards!

I must say, that this first postcrosser stamp of Moldova, issued for to this reunion, reprezents one of the most important figures of modern children literature - Guguță, created by our great-taught writer Spiridon Vangheli.
In 1974 he received the International Distinction Andersen for one of his books about Guguță.
This little man was and is a friend to all children in Moldova - because everyone has heard or read at least one story about Guguță. And now, Guguţă traveling on the globe with postcards on this new Postcrossing stamp... from Moldova! :))

I agree that this is a beautiful stamp and it is so wonderful that yet another country is recognizing Postcrossing. But - - with only 644 Moldovan Postcrossing members as of this messaging and 49,035 total cards sent, this stamp will definitely be uncommon to see (properly used) in most parts of the world.
I've been a Postcrossing member for 2-1/2 years and have yet to either receive or send a card to Moldova. I have received from Andorra and Viet Nam however :-)

This office in the U S Postal Service makes the decision as to which subjects are "worthy" of having a stamp issued. When writing your letter state some statistics to back up your request. For example, the number of USA Postcrossing members (now 67,078) and the number of cards sent (currently over 4.9 million) by Postcrossing members. Also, that many overseas members are tired of the same old round stamps that commemorate nothing. How about a series of international rate stamps that show off America's scenic and historic wonders. Sure we have these at the domestic rate but for international mail, NOTHING!!!
Use these ideas but please WRITE LETTERS so that our voice may be heard.

This postcrossing stamp is really beautiful, as well as its idea is amazing too! Almost always our postcards have their trip by air, so that's so true. :D And balloons are nothing more than inspiration and beauty, giving us good memories, so maybe the postcards here are all the same, treasures we keep in our hearts, not boxes.
