Hurraaaaaay! 🥳 The World Postcard Day is here at last!
What started as a small idea last year, slowly grew into a real worldwide campaign that connects not just postcrossers but everyone that is happy to find a postcard in their mailbox at the end of the day… which is basically everyone we know! The humble postcard celebrates its 151st anniversary today, and so this is the perfect date to throw a party in honor of our favorite means of communication.
So many of you have enthusiastically welcomed the idea of a World Postcard Day, and it’s been a joy to see it come to life. The #worldpostcardday hashtag on Instagram is brimming with pictures of all the lovely postcards and activities you’ve put together. Lots of you have printed Leandro’s postcard which we’ve made available last month. Teachers everywhere have been downloading the lesson plan which is now available in several languages thanks to helpful postcrossers. Who knows how many children will write their first postcard today!
Even on this atypical year filled with lockdowns and social distancing, a few postal services, museums and libraries joined the initiative issuing special postcards and cancellation marks, showcasing postcards online, or finding ways to safely involve local communities in the festivities — you can find more details about them on the Events page. Some of these events take place online, so do check them out!
Whichever way you choose to celebrate the day, make sure to send a few postcards and brighten someone’s day. We wish you all a very happy World Postcard Day — the first of many to come! 🎉

I've been hanging on to spots to send cards today. :-) I have 17 World Postcard Day cards ready to send for Postcrossing, plus another 22 to send to friends and family. Now I'm going to bed as it's 2:45am where I am and I'll go to the post office later in the day to get everything mailed! :-)

Happy World Postcard Day! While I wasn’t able to send postcards today, I celebrated by making a Postcard Tree decorated with Postcrossing postcards I’ve received featuring mailboxes, the postman and correspondence-related subjects. I also placed coin banks shaped like postal boxes in front of the tree and hung up a mailbox in the back. Wish I could share the photos!

Happy World Postcard Day. I could only send 1 card
My day started by writing about the World Postcard Day on my weblog.( As suggested on the World Postcard Day website) I have published a collection of 16 antique postcards of our watermill, from 1900 to the 1950's. After my sandwiches I'll start writing some cards to Postcrossers and Friends.
As an enthusiastic new Postcrosser, my partner and I made, and have mailed, 75 specially-made World Postcard Day Postcards. Photo on front; poem on back. 50 in English. 25 in both English / French.
A couple went to the Postcrossing addresses that I am permitted. The rest went to family and friends. They will arrive just before Canada's Thanksgiving Day, the second Monday in October.
As other Postcrossers have mentioned, recipients like to get something in the mail other than bills! Something that cheers them up.
And so, today is a particularly good time to send out a cheery "hello" as many of us also find ourselves facing the Second Wave of Covid-19.

I've sent two Postcrossing cards and six other postcards today; one is to the school where I used to teach to tell the children about World Postcard Day. Hurrah for Postcrossing!
I started the celebration, early, by requesting an address every working day during the last two weeks, hoping perhaps some might receive their postcard on WORLD POSTCARD DAY! A couple of those postcards will go out today. Looking forward to my new decade of sending and receiving. (And I plan to renew my badge as a Postcrossing Supporter, too) Happy Postcrossing WORLD POSTCARD DAY!
I was flipping out on Sept. 28th because I had messed up and used all of my travelling spots. My husband thought I was crazy. Well, TWO postcards have been registered since yesterday. I wish I could send more, but I am so happy to at least send these.

I sent 3 officials and some to friends and relatives and I got 11 officials today.

On this first World Postcard Day I received 10 Postcrossing cards, great! And I will write 6 Postcrossing cards now on this special day - I can't write more right now. So I will have a nice evening with writing cards.

Thank you again for creating Postcrossing. As was discussed, the connection with others around the world is really the most important part, and finding a bit of joy in our mailboxes is quite special. This year has definitely emphasized this to a great degree.

On the eve Of the holiday, I showed my relatives photos of their best postcards via the Internet. I encouraged them to remember the good times when they wrote these cards. Today I sent postcards to my relatives, friends, and Postcrossing members)). I really want to get back surprises from my family! I want to attract them to the Postcrossing ranks!

Today was a perfect Postcrossing day for me! I sent 13 cards to family and friends to tell them about World Postcard Day and to let them know how much I appreciate having them in my life. Also sent one to a Postcrossing member. Then I watched the Stampex talk about Postcrossing and as a new member I found the history of the organization interesting and hearing about the positive impact postcards have had. Enjoyed seeing everyone's favourite postcards also. Later in the day I found a card in my mail from a Postcrossing member. As I said, a perfect day!
I mailed out a few "custom" cards yesterday, and a few more will hit the mail tomorrow... so the postmarks won't be 10/1/20 which is my fault for not planning better!

I "saved up" my sends for a few days so I could request more addresses yesterday. I ended up getting to write 10 cards through Postcrossing! It was awesome. I send a mixture of Moo.com printed World Postcard Day cards and special cards from my collection.
Started off world postcard day by donating to the fabulous project that is post crossing. Then requested a number of addresses I’d saved especially for 1st October. I only have one world postcard day card left which I plan to post to family in Japan!

Hi everyone, I know I'm late to say; HAPPY POSTCARD DAY but I have send around 45 cards by myself, to friends an people how I know. At work every senior wrote a least one or two cards, total 82. I did send 4 official trough Postcrossing. So I did my best and I love every second off it. Can't wait for next year...
