The writing prompts invite postcrossers to write about a different topic on their postcards’ messages every month. These are just suggestions though — if you already know what you want to write about, or the recipient gives you some pointers, that’s great too!
The year’s flying by, but for now the summery weather is still with us here in the UK, and I’m looking forward to a few more sunny bike rides before I have to figure out where my jacket went and start thinking about warm gloves! So while I’m still holding onto summer, I’ve picked a prompt that seems appropriate:

I actually find it hard to pick favourites most of the time—and I have a solid runner up I really must mention—but my favourite song of the last few years always makes me think of summer: it’s Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer’s “Tanglewood Tree”. It always brings up such pictures in my head: “Young lovers in the tall grass with their hearts open wide / When the red summer poppies bloom…” (You can check out the full lyrics here.)
But in justice to another favourite, let me put in a word for the Cowboy Junkies’ “Crescent Moon” (lyrics), which I really like to sing along to: “Raise your eyes to a moonless sky / And try to wish upon a rising star…”
There are dozens of other songs I could mention (especially old favourites), if I had the space and time and didn’t think it’d get boring, but these two are ones I came across rather randomly, which stuck with me and to me for the last few years. So it seems like an excellent theme for something to write on your postcards this month—there should be plenty to say for a lot of us, especially if you’re as indecisive as I am about what your favourite might be! Feel free to use that as a nudge if you’re stumped, or tell us all about your favourite songs in the comments here!

I have many favorite songs, but Here are some of them:
Welcome To New York ~ Taylor Swift
Shut Down ~ Blackpink
Hot Sauce ~ Babymonster
Gardenia ~ Haloo Helsinki
Hate You So Much ~ Saga Ludvigsson
Oh goodness! How can I just pick one?! Well, I just listened to a new song by The Charlatans called “We Are Love” and I loved it! :)
One is difficult…I‘d choose Bruce Springsteens Streets of Philadelphia. The lyrics are showing his outstanding talent of being empathatic. And the music underlines it in a perfect way.
I like Waterfalls by James hype
Wow, so many :) But now I am proud of my friend's first album "Psinusoidans" by D'aliaen @daliaenro
- and here is a link to one of the songs: Nimic Nou | Nothing New | Acapella Choir Version: https://youtu.be/DngI7y0_JYg?si=Bg6xq7cxp1zmV1Aa
Summer in the City - Joe Cocker
Wow, that is so difficult to decide! There is one song I've used for years whenever I need cheering up or encouragement, though: "There's a Brand New Day on the Horizon" by Elvis Presley, from the movie "Roustabout" -- an "oldie but a goodie," as we say!
Tito & Tarantula: "Everybody Needs" and "Forever Forgotten & Unforgiven". And of course "After Dark" (I have seen it five times live - cool & grandiose).
Hai...ik ben toch wel heel gek van Rammstein...Metallica...Stevie Nicks...
"Fly Me to the Moon".
I made a playlist with various artists doing their rendition (Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, and others.) and listen to it often.
As everyone else I have a long list of favorites, but in these turbulent times in my country and around the world I only want to hear GIVE PEACE A CHANCE and IMAGINE. 😢
Favourite songs always so difficult, sooo many but I've been listening a lot recently to Van Morrison " When the leaves come falling down" Loreley 1999. Perfect for September, it usually stops me in my tracks, sometimes a tear, wonderful song, sung straight from the heart. Enjoy if you listen...
The theme song of "Pirates of the Caribbean" always lifts my mood!
“Earlier in the car, I was lucky enough to find Shinedown’s version of ‘Simple Man’ on my playlist, and I played it three times! 🙃 So today I can honestly say, that’s my favorite song.”
My favorite song: "L'amitié" = "Friendship" by Françoise Hardy

Eva Cassidy's version of "Fields of Gold". When my son was in college, I sent him Eva Cassidy's Songbird c.d. He opened it and put it on while he and his girlfriend were studying together for an exam (both engineering). They were so moved by her voice that they suddenly realized they were both silently weeping as they studied. He told me it was the first time they had cried together. Now they're married, and I have three grandchildren, the oldest has just left for college.
Anything by CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL (CCR) ♡

3. Ghalay inta - Saif Nabeel
Orinoco Flow by Enya. Such a beautiful soothing piece of music, fitting for all seasons.

Oh, there are so many wonderful songs I know! <3
My number one will always be "A Warm Place" by Nine Inch Nails
Talking about that genius, that Trent Reznor is, I also especially love "Leaving Hope" and "All That Could Have Been" by Nine Inch Nails.
Other than that I really love "Homemade Blood" and "Dyin' All Young" by Chuck Prophet and many, many songs by Rammstein and Billy Joel! <3<3<3
(And also many songs from the 80s. The music I especially love!)
I love almost all of Neil Diamond's songs, unfortunately, he's no longer on tour. I saw him live several times in Cologne and was always thrilled to hear his voice and see him live.
But I also enjoy listening to songs by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, especially "Islands in the Stream." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaNGtgYwSsU
In German, there are also many wonderful songs in Kölsch, a special dialect from here.
Oh, there are so many wonderful singers, I can hardly name any more. But the Beatles are still my favorite.
Hi! Sorry for asking a question off-topic, but I have a question. The last time I sent postcards was in 2022. Now I've decided to resume this activity, but I've read that if I don't register my postcards, my account will be deleted from the system. How can I log in again so that I can receive postcards? Please help me. In the settings, I've set "active" instead of "inactive."
Tom’s Diner by Suzanne Vega
One of my favorite songs is "I've Never Been To Me"
I have so many I might need to write a letter, not a postcard!
Music is so important. Often songs explain much more clearly than words. I listened to the stories shared here. Simply wonderful. Favorite story changes, but one that keeps coming up again- The girl from Ipanema. And different performers have different shades, but still a very good listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5QfXjsoNe4
My favourite song is a Dutch song , called Dodenrit, by Drs.P
It's a tragical story, told in a very funny way. About a Russian family travelling by troika to Omsk. In the forest a group of wolves are attacking them, so one by one they throw out one of their children. The father has to offer his wife as well, and when finally the Village is in sight, he is so happy he falls out of the troika. Final words: While the wolves are eating me, I think Omsk is a nice place but a little bit too far away.
My tastes are stuck in the 90s.
Undone -The Sweater Song / Weezer
Undone -The Sweater Song by Weezer

Rain - BTS
ATE THAT - young posse
мой мармеладный (я не права) - katya lel
Danger - TXT
GPT - StayC
How could I possibly choose just one?
Well, if I HAD to, I would say "A Better Son/Daughter" by Rilo Kiley.
I generally have a song-of-the-week, which is a song that I will listen to over and over again for a brief period until I get sick of it. Last week, it was "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. This week, it's the 2023 Broadway Cast Recording of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, starring Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford.
it's interesting how varied the songs are, which is good. I'll choose Judy Garland singing Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Her voice so wistful, clear, matching the lyrics and tune. All three artists a tribute to American culture, but the song also has a universal longing.
I Love "Both Sides Now" from Joni Mitchel...It's soooooo good!
Rock That Body !
The top of the top, specially that today is 5 September, the birthday of Freddie Mercury, who would turn 79 years today - but he is still living through his songs - is Bohemian Rhapsody!
🎵 "Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality
Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me...." 🎶
Sting - Fields of Gold
Phil Collins - Both Sides of the Story
Žamboši - Louvre
To mention just a few :)
