Blog > Postcards for a good cause: this year's results are in!

  icon

February is over and the results from 2014's Postcrossing & Deutsche Post’s campaign are in!

Curious to find out how many postcards were sent from Germany last December? Think of a number and scroll down!

Postcrossers in Germany sent 83,824 postcards during December, raising a total of €8,382.40 for Stiftung Lesen! Hurray! :D

Congratulations to all the postcrossers and a big thank you to Deutsche Post, for making this possible! What a fantastic achievement — we are so, so proud of all of you!

We are still sorting out the prizes and will be in touch with the winners via email soon.

Sorry to pour vinegar into your wine. But the Deutsche Post AG (Aktiengesellschadt, joint-stock company) has as all big companies to pay taxes from their profits. So all "charities" are welcome, which will lower the taxes.
And such things let stand the Deutsche Post AG in a better light in the public (as you can see in the posts above).
Why not give a sum to the Stiftung Lesen directly, and a much bigger than this ridiculous eightsomething k? (the leader of their own "Post-Stiftung" gets way more in a month, and nobody knows what that "Stiftung" does)
And why Germany, one of the richest countries in the world, needs a "Stiftung Lesen"? Are our schools not good enough any more? Then the state has to do something to better that. Where is the principle, that was in my time the principle of the schools, "we leave no one behind"?
In our constitution education (in schools) is a duty of the state, not of joint-stock companies.
I think something goes utterly wrong, when people have to pay extra for things they have already paid with their taxes. And we have paid that money they gave to Stiftung Lesen with the high prices for the stamps. So we paid double.

Sorry, but I had to say that.
