World Lupus Day & LupusCrossing

It's in days like today that the power of a simple postcard becomes obvious. The World Lupus Day is celebrated today across the world, and thanks to many Postcrossers who kindly joined our LupusCrossing project, many smiles are being lit right now and many more will be created!

An impressive total of 251 butterfly postcards have flown from Postcrossers to the hands of Lupus patients, coming from many different countries. LupusCrossing has been a great success and we couldn't be more thankful for everyone that participated on this project. The messages sent from all over the world were overwhelmingly kind and full of hope, as you can check yourself in the German Lupus Association website where all the postcards are displayed. We are very proud to have contributed to make the Lupus patients days into happier ones. The world is a better place to live thanks to Postcrossers.

Simone from the German Lupus Association has reassured us that Lupus Patients will have access to the butterfly postcards and their nice messages, plus they will make their best to show them throughout their 80 regional groups in Germany. Moreover, and as promised, they will send thank-you postcards to 3 randomly chosen senders of each country that participated, plus to a few hand-picked ones. So, if you have sent a butterfly postcard and wrote your address in it, a postcard might be heading your way soon!

And if you wonder how all the butterflies look together, here are some photos of them:

We are certainly looking forward for similar opportunities to make someone's day a brighter one, if you have some ideas, please let us know!

Happy LupusCrossing!

ammy, Singapore
There were only 2 cards from my country (including mine). I think projects like these need more publicity. Maybe Postcrossing can tie up with local governments or the organisations concerned from each country or something. But don't get me wrong - I am already very happy with what Postcrossing is doing, just giving suggestions as to how to spread the word even more. ;)

And LupusCrossing still goes on!
Today the 269th card arrived - an amazing number of 40 (!!) countries are participating!
And still... we can't stop being moved by all your support, good wishes, blessings and the feeling that people all over the world are concerned about this severe disease.
Thank you for participating - and keep on LupusCrossing :-)

Oh I'm so excited and humbled to receive a postcard back from Simone! It's certainly a very special card and I'm going to have to do something special with it, such as frame it or hang it on a wall. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity and I'm so glad we could touch & bring smiles to many many people.

Thank you so much for organising this! Perhaps we could do something similar for another charity such as MS or a children's hospital?

Have a beautiful day!

Hexentrio, Germany
And here it's me again ;-)
Due to scanner crash, vacation and busy days I am awfully late in letting you have some news about LupusCrossing.
Sorry for that!

In the meantime an amazing number of 284 postcrossers from 41 countries have participated in LupusCrossing!
We are still touched by your support, and we are going to prepare a poster displaying our common LupusCrossing project across Germany.

Still a few THANK-YOU-CARDS are missing ... but these are just a drop in the ocean of the deep emotions we felt when receiving your wonderful cards, supporting words and care.

I did a lot of projects for our German Lupus Association, but I have never been so overwhelmed, touched and stirred as due to LupusCrossing.

A big hug to YOU, to Paulo and the entire Postcrossing team for making this amazing initiative possible.

Always yours, Simone
