One of the most notable portrayals of the character of Elizabeth Bennet has been that of Jennifer Ehle in the 1995 BBC mini series Pride and Prejudice (1995 TV series) directed by Simon Langton. Ehle won the British Academy Television Award for the Best Actress in 1996.
