TW covers an area of only 0.025% of the World Land, where the number of species reaches nonetheless 25% of Earth's species so far as it is known, which is 100 times the average of all the countries in the world. However, the numer of marine species in TW comes to 1/10 of the world's marine species, which is 400 times the average of all the countries worldwide. TW is therefore regarded as an island with biodiversity. |
