About Steve...

Hello, my name is Steve Powell. I live with my wife Pam near Brisbane, the capital city of the Australian State of Queensland. We have 4 adult children and 16 grandchildren. My only language is English - although it is our Australian English - called 'strine'! I also learnt some Bahasa Indonesian many years ago - "Selamat Pagi" to all of you in Indonesia!
I was an Electrical Engineer then worked in the Aged Care industry for many years. I have recently retired. I have travelled to many countries, and I am interested in other peoples and cultures. I think Postcrossing is an excellent activity because it helps us to appreciate other peoples and places in our amazing world.
I am a Christian and believe we have been wonderfully made by our great God who knows us better than we know ourselves. The Bible is our best guide for life. It tells us why we exist, what our purpose is and where we are going. The Bible also tells us about Jesus, God's Son, and how He has obtained eternal life for us if we believe and trust in Him.
My hobbies are photography and stamp collecting. In particular I take photos of post offices and I collect stamps, especially the Christmas stamps from all over the world. I also like working with wood and recycling old timber into useful items.
I enjoy a wide range of music but mostly the music of the 1960's and 1970's. You wouldn't guess I was an oldie would you? Since the Jersey Boys musical and movie, I have rediscovered Frankie Valle and The Four Seasons. I don't believe they received enough credit for their great repertoire of songs that spanned so many years.
I don't have any preferred postcards - they are all interesting to me. Just a big thank you for taking the time to post me a card.
