About Melis...

Last Update: 01 Sep 2013

Hey there!

After taking a break for almost 1,5 years (due to the university entrance exams), it's so nice to be here again!
This is Melis, 19, from Istanbul, Turkey. I study Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. (Actually i haven't started yet. Just a freshman ^^)

I like reading, listening to music (for further info you can check my Last.fm profile), getting to know different cultures and traditions. I worship travelling. It's like a reason to exist for me. However, i have been to abroad only for once. I'm in saving-up period :).

Austria, Germany and Switzerland are my favourite destinations in Europe.
Some day I really would like to have an Asia trip, especially south eastern regions. Nepal and Thailand has always amazed me.

I like cards with old towns, castles and any other historic buildings!

I used to hike and go for trekkings. In last few years i put on some weight; so i haven't been to such activities for a long time. Shame.

I'm one of those with pastoral fantasies. I like nature a lot! Especially scenerey with mountains. I have a fetich of the Alps. Not in the time of winter, though. I'd rather enjoy the scenery when it's green :)

I'm a LOTR fan.

My all-time favourite book is Betty Blue. Strongly recommended!

I LOVE map cards. This one is one of my faves: http://www.postcrossing.com/postcards/NL-658654 . I also have the South Korean version but i was too lazy to scan and upload it.

It would be great to receive cards of famous landmarks in your country. Here's something I've just realise: I have over 200 cards, but no Eiffel Tower of France, no Pisa Tower of Italy or no Buckingham Palace of England. That's sad :(

As i mentioned above, I really like cultures and traditions. I'd be appreciated if you consider this while picking up what to send and I'd be MORE appreciated if you write something about them or adding a trivia about your country, your countrymen, etc.
Yeah, trivias are good :)

Dear fellas from Arctic Pole; first of all, i envy you! Second, i really appreciate cards of northern lights :)

I have a massive Buddhism sympathy, like Buddhist temples, monks, Buddha sculpture, etc. If you have something about Nepal, Bhutan, Everest, Buddha; don't hesitate to send! :)
Shamanism or any other local practice is highly welcomed, as well!

To be honest, I don't like cards where i can find at everywhere. (You know, there are some universal images like kissing children, hearts, and so on.) However, don't let this let you down. I do respect good intentions and I will receive any kind of cards with pleasure :)

Love you all!
Melis
