About Rachelle...

I'm a Canadian living and working in Kyoto, Japan. I love to travel - I've been to nearly 60 countries and now have a goal of visiting 100 - not sure when that will happen though! I've been sending postcards to myself for many years now, and I am happy to have found a community of like-minded people where we can send each other cards from all over the world.

I'm pretty open to all kinds of cards (prefer written and stamped), but if you want some ideas of what to send, please take a look at my Wall of favorites. These include:

-World Heritage (UNESCO) sites (actual/tentative), preferably single view cards, but other styles are also ok. Prefer cards sent from location (i.e. country of origin), and that have the site name listed somewhere (front or back).
-traditional tourist view cards (photo or illustrative). Ideally I love sunrise/sunset/dusk/night cards, but any cards that feature an iconic aspect of the place would be welcome.
-I love old doors/houses/barns, old or iconic bridges, castles, steam trains, etc.
-I also love postal cards, whether they feature mail, stamps or postboxes
-illustrated travel poster postcards
-most things history-related, no matter how dark or light, serious or funny. This can be from historical sites, cemeteries, museums, living history museums, ruins, ancient architecture, etc.
-illustrations of butterflies, moths, fireflies, or dragonflies (prefer a more dark academia vibe than cute)
-Gothic/Victorian-inspired skulls or skeletons
-Gotochi cards, or other shaped cards
-Maxicards - official or self-made
-Retro/vintage cards representing any era
-Any cards that feature film cameras, film photographers, camera film, film/camera manufacturers (Kodak, Nikon, Polaroid, Rolleiflex, etc.)
-Favourite animals tend to be biggies - elephants, rhinos, hippos, great apes, etc. And cats of course.
-Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons. I like seasonal/holiday cards to be sent at the appropriate time of year, and prefer illustrative cards. I especially love vintage/retro/culture-specific Santa Clauses (I also collect Santa-themed stamps) or just Christmas/festive scenes in general. For Halloween/Day of the Dead, I prefer a more adult/Gothic/dark vibe. Cards that feature languages other than English would be very much appreciated.
-Handmade cards are welcome, but please no food package cards

Generally speaking, I'm not really a fan of kawaii/anime/manga cards, ad cards, nor things religious or political (that includes religious messages and symbols of any kind on the written side of the card).

As noted above, these are just suggestions, I'm pretty open to anything! As such, there is no need to apologise for sending me a card which does not match my preferences. If you like it, I'm sure I'll like it too.

Finally, I don't give permission to share my data with any third parties, including online postcard services or social media sites. If there is something you want to share, please contact me first about it.
