I have been collecting postcards since I was a young girl. My grandmother got me interested in them by sending me postcards whenever she took trips, be they local or further afield. I even send myself postcards from my own vacations I enjoy them so much :)
I enjoy a variety of stamps if possible - especially if you have a Postcrossing stamp from your country.
Recently my young grandchildren McKenna (7.5) and Michael (5) have become fans of Postcrossing. We all love seeing the great postcards and the lovely stamps, as well as learning new things too.
We have no specific preference for the types of postcards sent, we like surprises. But here are a few suggestions:
We enjoy learning new things, so a postcard that can teach us about where you are from would be great
Minnie/Mickey Mouse, Hello Kitty, Barbie
Pretty much any cartoon character
Twilight - The Stephanie Meyer series
The singers: Prince, George Michael/WHAM and Justin Timberlake
Cats / kittens
Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, King Charles III, or the Princes William and Harry
Unicorns / Fairies / Dragons
Dogs / puppies
Most animals really, but if you have a dinosaur or shark that would be great
I love lilacs, pansies, roses and snapdragons
Batman, Spiderman or other DC /Marcel characters
My favourite colour is purple, and the children like pink and blue
Holiday cards - especially Halloween and Christmas, but also holidays that might not be celebrated worldwide
Places of interest close to you
Shaped cards would be fun
** Please no ad cards **
Examples of topics to write to me (but tell me whatever is on your mind!)
What’s your favourite food?
What you can see when you look out of your window?
Do you like music? What kind?
Quote of the day/your favourite quote or poem or something funny that happened to you today.
What’s the weather(season) like where you are?
ATTENTION -- if you are from Belarus, I would LOVE to receive the new Postcrossing stamp. Or if you are from any other country that has Postcrossing stamps I would really appreciate them.
If there is a text written in characters other than English alphabet letters (ie Cyrillic/Chinese/Japanese/Arabic etc.) on the card, could you please translate it into English for me. Could you also put the date on the postcard -- Thanks.
Expired cards? Too many - Sadly. But I don't register a card unless I received it.
By the way, I'm a big kid at heart so if you have any stickers to put on I would enjoy those too.
This is a periodic reminder that Postcrossing is about connecting, not collecting. It’s about embracing serendipity! Feel free to use profiles as inspiration, but please know that you can send any postcard you’d like or have available. Happy Postcrossing!
