About Melissa...

From the moment I joined postcrossing I was looking forward to covering pinboards with all kinds of exotic postcards - and also postcards with my words on it traveling the world. And it's actually happening!

I grew up in the Dutch city of Almere, near Amsterdam. There used to be a sea where Almere is now. Dams and dikes were built in the 20th century to reclaim the land. So Almere is a young city (30 years), with modern architecture and lots of green between the urban areas. (More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almere.)

I currently live in Utrecht with my fiancé Ralph. He inspired me to pursue a career in education, after working in corporate communications for years. So I'm now studying to be a primary school teacher. When I'm not studying or working, I like to read or get together with friends. We love to explore cities and visit concerts and museums. I also like to cook and I love good food.

I also love to travel. When I travel, I like to enjoy city life and nature, scuba dive, explore the culture and enjoy the local cuisine. I've been to lots of places in Europe, and also Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Morocco, Dominican Republic and California. And I'd like to see much much more! But in the mean time, I hope to see and learn a lot of the world through the postcards I'll be receiving from you.

I like cards with modern or historic architecture, natural or city views, cultural subjects (national dress, customs, holidays), arts, food, modern design. Or any specific image/story you want to share, something linked to you in any way, that you think is beautiful. I'm not a big fan of animal images, cartoons or multiple image (tourist) postcards.

Don't know what to write? If you have a favourite quote or proverb, write it down - I love good quotes! Furthermore, tell me something about the image on the card, where you live or what makes you happy.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
