About Marina...

Hello there, stranger!
Here is a story: I started the journey of Postcrossing when I was 13. I barely spoke English and had to translate everything with the help of Google. I was fascinated with the idea of meeting people through this somewhat romantic experience of exchanging postcards. Then life got in a way and I stopped putting stamps on cards. But recently I remembered how nice it was to get a card after a hard day, so I decided to switch my profile to active.
When I was reading my old bio, I was smiling the whole time. Those grammar mistakes and childhood hobbies! But some things stayed the same. So...
I still live in Moscow, which is still the capital of Russia. I still enjoy reading (favorite books include To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, Faust by Goethe, 1984 by Orwell, The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, many by Bradbury and John Green). During those last 6 years a learned a lot about photography, and I can say that taking pictures of school theatre plays and different cities is both a hobby and an inspiration. My music tastes have transformed from everything pop to something which is usually called indie (Foster the People, Zella Day, Nahko&Medicine for the people, The Lumineers). But honestly, I love so many bands and artists that it's hard to put a label on my music taste (Avril Lavigne and Taylor Swift, Rise Against and Green Day, Kaleo and New Politics, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Passenger, Twenty One Pilots and Lorde, Kodaline and The Script...). I really enjoy seeing my favorite musicians live, concerts give me life. Doctor Who is my favorite TV show, it has been for the last 5 years. I also watch too much Youtube haha
I'm in my second year of studying geography at Lomonosov Moscow State University (LMSU or MSU). Hence why I love exploring new places, getting to know about different cultures and traveling in general. I'm not sure geography is something I want to pursue in the future, but I feel like no one is certain about the things they want to do when they grow up by the time they're out of high school. So I'm kinda rolling with it.
So it'd be awesome to get a card that shows the place you live in, maybe you could write your emotions about the surroundings. Also (this is literally from my bio 6 years ago, but it's still true): if you're from the USA or Australia, just letting you know that your country is on my bucket list of places to visit! So it would be so cool to receive a card from either of these countries. Or, if you have a postcard with a map of your region, I would be honored to have it in my collection.
Anyway, I'm here not to get a particular kind of postcard, but to reconnect with this wonderful world of Postcrossing, to feel the joy of opening up my mailbox having a card from the other side of the world waiting for me. And I can't wait to send cards myself, hoping that they will bring as much joy to other people. Here's to 6 more years :)
- Good luck,
Marina
