About Rob...

My name is Rob Huntley and I'm a photographer living in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Actually, my wife and I recently moved out of Ottawa proper and we are now in Barrhaven which is an outlying suburb. I've lived in Ottawa for most of my life but was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. We have two married daughters and four grandchildren.

I'm a member of a masters swimming club. That's like competitive swimming for the "has-been" and the "wanna-be" adult swimming crowd. I'm a has-been, having raced during my teen years and at University. Masters swimming provides direction and encouragement for people who prefer swimming as their primary form of exercise but get bored doing it alone. With 11 practice times per week to choose from spread across 4 coaches it is convenient to find a few times a week that fit your schedule.

I also enjoy recreational cycling, hiking and snowshoeing as other forms of exercise and enjoyment. I have a passion for cacti and succulents as well.

A shout out to all Parkinson's Disease sufferers. I'm on your team too, having been diagnosed in early 2018.

As a photographer I like to shoot almost everything but I especially focus on travel photography, nature photography and landscapes including aerial photography which I do with the aid of a kite. Yes ... a kite. I started doing kite aerial photography before drones came into popularity. I've adopted the username kapnrob on Postcrossing and on other social media such as twitter and instagram. It is an abbreviation of "Kapping Rob" but sounds like "Captain Rob". Kapping comes from KAP, standing for Kite Aerial Photography. Check my website for some of my kite aerial work, and of course some of my other photography and photoart.

Expect to receive postcards from me which I've produced from my own photography. I have noted that other Postcrossing members are also sometimes using my postcards (available on my Rob Huntley Zazzle account), for which I am grateful. It is nice to have one's craft appreciated to the extent that it is chosen for sending to others.
