About Jelle...

Well, this is my story. I was born in 1982 and I live in Hillegom, a small village (near Haarlem) in the famous ‘flower bulb region’ of the Netherlands. And yes, The Beatles played here in the old ‘Treslong’ building on June 5th 1964!

In 1995 I started my studies at the Graphic School in Haarlem, ‘printer city’ of the Netherlands. Around 1370-1440, Laurens Janszoon Coster lived in this city. In Haarlem we like to believe that Coster was the inventor of letterpress! Afterwards I continued my studies in Amsterdam at the Graphic Lyceum. I have worked for several printing companies to gain experience. Those years of studying and working in different kinds of print houses were fun and educational times; times I’ll never forget.

At this moment, I work as a desktop publisher at a manufacturer of sample books. The books contain samples of wallpaper or fabrics, for example. What I love most about working in the graphic industry, is the old fashioned craftsmanship. In my spare time I like to play around with different printing techniques form linocuts to letterpress. The results of that you can find here (https://www.etsy.com/nl/shop/HillegomGraphics).

Best regards,
Jelle
