About Jan...

A little bit about me, my family, my town and my country. My name is Jan, 67 years old, I got my loved wife Marta, 2 cute sons Rasto and Rado. Both work as coach drivers for travel agency Contiki in Europe. I got also granddaughter Karolina, she is 3,5 years old and she makes everyone happy. I was born and live my whole life in a small, but very nice and historical town called Trencin. It has about 60,000 inhabitans. Trencin has rich history and beautiful, one of our biggest castles. Castle is placed on the rock just above our historical centre. Slovakia is quite new country, est. In 1993, when Czechoslovakia split in 2 countries. Slovakia has a lot of historical, architectural and cultural heritage, also very beautiful countryside.

My predilection is philately, coin collecting, I love to read (sci-fi, WW2, history of castles and mansions, J.Verne, heraldry and also everything about Egypt and Greece . . . ), I like hiking and love to take a lot of pictures. I also love to travel and knowing new countries, their history, sites and countryside. BUT . . . as we are here on POSTCROSSING, I really love to collect postcards. I’m collecting postcards almost for 50 years atm. I have aprox. 30,000 postcards in my collection. And what kind of postcards I like? Well, basically all of them, but to my collection I prefer:
- Cities, towns, villages . . .
- Mountains, peaks, hills, valleys, caves . . .
- Castles, mansions, forts . . .
- Monuments, memorials . . .
- Historical objects, ancient civilizations . . .
- Heraldry, or anything mixed with it . . .
- Tanks
- J.Verne and his books

Postcards can be with just one picture or more, I don’t mind any of them. But if you send me anything, I also have a special department in my collection called Postcrossing.

Happy POSTCROSSING!

Jan

Postcards I like the most, not in order (unfortunately it is not possible to show all of them here) . . .
