About Helen...

Hi, I'm Helen
I am retired from work after 25 years as a teacher, the last 15 as a deputy principal in a secondary school. Although I loved my work with teenagers, it was an exhausting job and I am now finally able to spend time doing things I enjoy like reading, cooking, gardening and travelling.

I'm married and my husband and I have four children between us; three sons and one daughter. We also have one grandson and two granddaughters.
One son lives in the UK and another has recently returned with his wife, from Oslo, Norway where he lived for 6 years. Our other son lives with his wife and our grandson in Brisbane and our daughter lives with her husband and their two daughters in Cairns in far North Queensland .

We live in Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland and the third largest city in Australia. It is a large relaxed modern city which is on the east coast near the ocean and is divided north- south by a lovely meandering river. We are blessed to have a subtropical climate here with mostly sunny days and lovely blue skies. Winter maximums rarely fall below 20C.

My avatar shows a view from our home across our street to a park that is on the river's edge.

My husband and I love to travel and have visited Europe and Asia many times. Although France is our favourite destination, we are hoping to visit the Baltic states and Russia in the near future. Also on our list is a trip to North America to take in the delights on offer.

In my retirement, I am currently taking French lessons, so if you are from France, or speak French, you could try some easy French on your postcards. I am also learning the recorder and with no prior musical experience, this is a challenge, though I have managed to move on from "Mary had a little lamb" 😉

I look forward to hearing from you and learning about your home town.

Any postcard is a GREAT one!

Regards and best wishes
Helen
