About Valerija...

Live long and prosper, wonderful stranger!

It's awesome you've ended up in this page after a chain of random events! My name is Valerija, 27 year old book nerd when I'm not caught up with work. I adore listening to music on old record players, restoring oldies found on flea markets, collecting stamps and learning languages which do not belong with one language family (because, well, where is the fun in that?)

Darlings, I love receiving postcards but what I am longing for are your words - as many as you can. If you don't know what to write on the back of the postcard, well, here I have a few prompts:

- write a few lines from a poem you like;
- tell me what film or book (I'm a sucker for a good book, really) you recommend. Or rant about said things - Gosh, spill the tea, I LOVE details;
- if you buy old books or take them in libraries, have you ever found interesting/heartbreaking gift inscriptions?
- what is your favorite word in your mother tongue? Why do you like it?
- have you ever attended a ball? Maybe you took up historical dances or were a part of historical reenactment events?
- Is there a childhood dish that makes you nostalgic? Is there a happy memory connected with it?
- what do you prefer more - tea or coffee? What's your favorite kind?
- have you ever written a letter to anyone? Do you have a penpal? Have you had a penpal in your childhood?
- do you have favorite lipstick or nail polish? Care to share what shade it is?
- do you know a one or two interesting facts about national costume of the country you are from?
- when was the last time you were at the library? What book you took if it is not a top secret?
- science joke in your language (with translation);
- I have an old walkman which is slowly dying - the sound is distorted, headphones connect from time to time and, gee, it has SO many issues with it yet I don't have the heart to throw it away (so, of course I am searching someone to fix it because the hope dies last). The thing is, do you have something you can't just let go of because of its sentimental value? Your grandmother's plastic brooch? An old tube of lipstick? A special chipped tea cup? A dog-earred book with yellow-ish pages? Warm but fraying scarf? A music box with ballerina? Your teddy bear or a doll? A ticket to the concert?

I will treasure every postcard you send me but if you want my heart to melt like an ice cream in hot weather, a few hints for ya:

- vintage ads and reprints;
- VOGUE covers;
- national costume of your country;
- Art Nouveau themed postcards;
- Sandro Botticelli's paintings;
- winter nature;
-Tarot;
- book covers and illustrations (I have a soft spot for Professor Tolkien especially);
- Harley Davidson motor cycles (or just motor cycles. Maybe a motor cycle which originally is from your country?);
- Slavic mythology;
- mermaids in painting;
- Star Trek;
- American Roaring 20s and 50s aesthetics.

Have a nice day, I'm happy to postally meet you :3
