About Geertje...

Hi there!

I hope you are having a great day!

I'm Geertje and I live in Soest, the Netherlands, with my husband, my wonderful senior cat Nellie, and my Irish Wolfhound Nessa.

I work in community-based mental health care as an "ervaringsdeskundige", which literally translates to "experience expert" . This means I use my own experiences with mental illness, the mental health care system, and recovery, to coach and support others. I also work to improve the accessibility of our care, and I educate the doctors and nurses on our team from a patient perspective.

I am also an anthropologist and I love learning about all kinds of cultures, religions, and nations around the world.

Things I love include:

- Seasonal and holiday celebrations from your country. I would love to receive cards for holidays that are specific to your country/region, especially if you could write a bit about what and how you celebrate.

- Christmas cards (really, I am happy with Christmas cards any time of year!)

- Bad puns, especially in foreign languages. Please translate and explain them for me though :)

- Commercial cards, especially from businesses with bad/awkward slogans. Or send me cards from hotels/restaurants/shops that you love!

- All animals, especially cats and hedgehogs. If a specific animal has a cultural/religious significance for you, I would love it if you told me a bit about it!

- Food (I love cooking and baking, but frankly mostly eating), and food cultures around the world.

- Anything colorful! And glitter! And kitsch! The tackier the better!

- Handmade cards hold a very special place in my heart, and I would be honored to receive them.

- That one card you've had in your collection for years, but that seems to fit nobody's preferences, or that you don't even really like yourself. I'd love to give it a good home.

I keep all the cards I receive in a nice album, and really cherish them all.
