Hi! I'm Debbie.

After studying physics in Aachen (close to the Dutch and Belgian boarder) I've moved to almost the other side of Germany, to Berlin. Here I work for an IT company, we write software for buses ad trains.

In my spare time I enjoy traveling, hiking, gardening, going to concerts and festivals (rock+metal), knitting, sewing and other crafts. I'm a podcast and series junkie. My favorite podcasts at the moment are: German - "Hoaxilla"; English - "The Guilty Feminist" and "The Dollop".

I grew up in the USA and still have family there, so it's one of my most frequent travel destinations for longer vacations.

I would love to read a proverb or saying in your native language, along with a literal translation. A nice one in German is: "Jedem Tierchen sein Pläsierchen" - literal: for every animal there's something that gives them joy, in German it rimes and has a good ring to it; meaning: similar to "different strokes for different folks ", everyone likes different things.
