My name is Geraldine, I'm 34 years old and I live together with my husband and our cat Dinky in The Netherlands. Three days a week I work in a bookstore (wonderful job!), the rest of the week I spend (script)writing and studying German.
I love books (fantasy and thrillers) and all kind of sports (hiking, biking, skating). Also I have this mild obsession for pirates and spectacles/frames. Bright colors make me feel happy, but I also love nostalgic themes. My favourite country is Switserland, where I visit musea and castles or simply adore the beautiful lakes and landscapes.

Why I joined postcrossing... When I was a kid my grandparents often went on vacation for a long period and then wrote me many postcards with long, exciting stories about their activities on it.
Not long ago I was on vacation while my mother suddenly had to have a severe surgery and I couldn't be with her. Instead I wrote her a postcard every day, like my late grandfather used to, trying to be 'present' with her that way and to comfort and distract her. After her prosperous recovery I realised how much I had enjoyed writing and sending postcards, so that's why I joined postcrossing. Ofcourse I can not wait to see postcards arriving for me, too =)

I like any (colorful!) card... but cards I secretly hope for and that would make me extremely happy, are cards of:

* All kinds of children's book/fairytale illustrations!
