About Ulrike...

Hello fellow postcrossers!

My name is Ulrike. I am 64 years old and I live in a small village near Kiel. I am a teacher who retired in June 2020. I studied history and mathematics, but I also taught geography and politics. Due to the pandemic I feel very lucky that I don’t have to go to school anymore.

I like travelling, gardening, cooking, listening to audio books and motor biking. My husband has got 2 old Nortons, which we used for holidays a lot.

We live near the sea. I enjoy swimming in the summer, when it is warm, but I also enjoy long walks on the beach in stormy weather and riding the bicycle on the dike (without any storm). I think I can only live in a place near the sea. Even if I don’t go there, I need the feeling that I could, if I wanted to.

I 've always loved to write postcards. So I thought I should try postcrossing. I can’t make up my mind what I like better: receiving postcards or sending postcards. Each has got its own charm. I can't decide what side of the postcard I like better, either. Some pictures are so beautiful, while other cards have got such an interesting rear side.

There is one thing that puzzles me about Postcrossing. When I first joined I expected that a constant flow of postcards would arrive at my mailbox. I thought I would find 1 or 2 postcards in the mail every day or every second day, but the postcards arrive in "piles". I get 4, 5 or even more cards at the same time and then no card at all for a week. I wonder if German Post stores them away for a while. Today I happily received 6 postcards – all from the US. It is a miracle!

Anyway, make me happy with your postcard. I like all kinds of postcards and fancy stamps.

Thanks to all those people that make postcrossing possible!
