About Yiqi...

*Dear postcrossers, I have a few beautiful ad cards that I collected over years, but almost everyone requests not to send ad cards so they're lying sadly in my drawer. Let me know if you're interested in them and I'm happy to send them over!

Hi! I'm Yiqi from Hangzhou, China. My hometown is famous for the best green tea (Longjin), the most beautiful Zen temples, the perfect balance between nature and technology and above all, the happiest people in China. However, there are many more places that I call home too. I have lived in peaceful villages in southern England as well as the busy metropolitan London. A year by the Alps in Zurich and another year and a half by the Baltic sea in Stockholm... Now I've settled in the capital of beer: Munich, doing a PhD in Virology.

Apart from English and Chinese (simplified/traditional), you may also communicate with me in Swedish and German. I can read French but am afraid that my reply will still be in English :p I also want to be good at Japanese one day because the food is so nice!

When I'm not in the lab, you'll find me in a music room. I play the piano, classical guitar and a Chinese instrument Hulusi. For the entire sixteen years of my music life, I've been trying to understand and be like the great composers when I play their works, but maybe it's time to be myself :) It's a real challenge for me but I believe I will get there. Apart from the instrumental side, I'm also keen on performing art, both on and backstage. I've performed in several musicals and also operated/designed lighting for some shows!

Food is another important part of my life. I learnt cooking with the help of awful English food but thankfully have gone a bit beyond that. I can be inspired by anything I've seen, smelled or tasted. I'm very keen on losing weight but never succeed :p

I love animals and plants. My dog has passed away and it makes me sad to think of him. However, I'm thankful for the time we shared together and will remember it for the rest of my life. Now I live with four guinea pigs who roam freely in our kitchen/living room. They're such characters and I can't help smiling when I think about them :D

Thank you for being so patient if you are reading this line :) Have a nice day!
