About Annemieke...

Hello everybody,

my name is Annemieke.
I live in Overasselt, a little place south of the city Nijmegen.
I was married for over 45 years with Ben who passed away in March 2017 and I miss him very much. We have two married daughters, Barbara and Jacqueline and we have one grandson named Thomas.
There is a real Dutch windmill behind our house (sea avatar) and 30 years ago I used to be the certified voluntary miller for over 10 years. I have a great passion for the Dutch windmill. Around 1900 there were over 10.000 windmills in the Netherlands, by the industrialisation which the windmills were no longer needed and the second world war in which many mills were destroyd, today there are still 1.000 remaining.
That is very regrettable and that's why we have to take good care of them.
The Netherlands is known from its windmills, but there is so much more to see in our little country on the North Sea

My other hobbies are photography, reading, crypto-puzzles, visiting museums, local history, herritage and family tree research. Collecting cookbooks and recipes and I love gardening. My favourite plant is the Hosta and I have a lot of them in my garden.
I play Petanque (jeu de boules) in a competition at the local club.
My husband and I loved traveling, in our own country, through Europe, we have visited the USA seven times, and we have made twice a cruise with the Holland America Line. Our last trip together was to Dubay in 2016. I'm also a big fan of Google Earth, as I can enjoy the whole world from my computer.

I'm very excited to receive postcards from around the world!
My interestes are:
- cities or the place you live in
- buildings/architecture (my husband and I love to admire buildings and houses, old and new)
- landscapes
- landmarks of heritage
- castles
- churches or other places of worship
- Art Nouveau/Art Deco
-Norman Rockwell

If you don't know what to write to me, then please tell me about the country or place you live in.

That is also my motto.
