About Ursula...

Dear Postcrossers all around the world,

My name is Ursula, I’m a 27 year old med student about to become a psychiatrist (I’m pretty normal, though, I swear ;)...). I love travelling and seeing that all this studying is keeping me away from doing that at the moment, postcrossing to me is a unique way to explore the world.

Like other internet communities (Couchsurfing and such), I think deep down postcrossing is about bringing the world together and finding things we have in common, no matter the distance, rather than finding things that keep us apart. And I think it’s also about believing in the good in people, which I certainly do.

So, what sort of postcard should you send me? I honestly don’t care, but here are a few more things about me that might help:

Long before I heard about postcrossing I annoyed my friends by begging them to write me cards from wherever they travelled. Pictures of famous sights – sure, but the not so famous sights are just as interesting to me. A street common for your country, a market, a building, a typical landscape, the people – I’ll take it all.

I love photography – especially because I don’t seem to be good at it myself, although I’m always the one with the camera at any party and although I take 300 pictures a day when I’m on vacation… Anyways, photos of landscapes and architecture and close-ups of inanimate (or, for that matter, animate) objects just look so much better when someone professional takes them. And making use of a little computer magic sometimes doesn’t hurt at all, either. Bring out them colors (or stick to black and white) – I’ll hang them all up.

I love movies – and I love movie quotes. They are always in my head, I embarrass my friends by jumping them on them once in a while and I print the best ones out in order to put them up on my apartment walls.... But I love quotes of any kind, really - the funny ones, the meaningful ones, the historical ones, the cheesy ones, the poetic ones – I’ll memorize them all.

I love weird facts – and I guess every country has some of those to share. Pointless information just seems to stick to me and not so pointless information is good for any trivia game. Of course, history, as well as nature and any science really, have an awful lot of small bits of knowledge to share – I’ll enjoy them all.

Once again: Send whatever postcard you can find and put a smile on my face!
Happy Postcrossing!

Ursula
