About Truut...

I love to travel and write about it. I always ask people: "What are your favorite spots?" That way I visit places, eat in restaurants you can't find in a travel guide. Right know I'm writing about La Región de Murcia, Spain. A lot of people don't know that area and that's a pity. It has a lot to offer.
San Francisco and Barcelona are my favorite towns. For a dutch travel agency I have develop a
8 day trip to SF. And Spain, the way of living there, oh, man!
Great if you tell me about your favorite spots in your country, town or neighbourhood.

Cooking is my passion. I love to cook recipes from all over the world and my friends love to come to diner. Also I preserve and pickle vegetables and fruit and make home-made sauces. Great if you send me your favorite recipes (from yourself, your mom or grandmother), why you love it and what's the story behind this recipe.

I'm interested in old cultures: the Indians of north and south America, the Aboriginals, Maori's, Touaregs and people who live like nomads. No wonder that I love writers like Bruce Chatwin, Redmond O'Hanlon and Cees Nooteboom.

Pimping up old clothes, working in my garden and the vegetable garden of a friend, visiting museums ( impressionism to modern art), reading, drawing, listening to jazz and world music,
and going to the movie are my hobby's.

Since 1974 I live in Nijmegen, the oldest town of the Netherlands (more than 2000 years). Although a lot of old buildings were destroyed during World War II there is still a lot to see and enjoy.
There are al lot of events. The most famous is in the third week of july: 'The four days walking". There are participants(45.000 persons) for all over the world. That week the centre of the city is one big stage with life music and we welcome more than a million visitors.

Also the surroundings of Nijmegen are beautiful: the river the Waal, the polder of Ooy, the hills of Groesbeek and the woods. My american and german friends find Nijmegen and the surrounding nature awesome. it is always a joy to show them around!

I love my city and love to hear from you!
