About Markus...

Hello,
world out there!

I found out that postcrossing.com exists when I read an online article in the summer of 2014 which stated that the Germans still send pretty many postcards and they mentioned this site here almost as an oddity. As I always liked to write and receive postcards I knew I wanted to find out more.
Here I am.

First of all I want to apologize for my handwriting to all who will receive my cards. My friends keep complaining about this matter, I'm afraid that they are right, but I try to do my best with every one I send. ;-)

I work as a teacher in the private sector, mostly with teenagers.

Unfortunately my timetable doesn't give me enough time for my hobbies, e.g.
- eating (basically every dish from every cuisine)
- drinking (Scotch - my latest discovery being a 15 year old Mortlach by The Maltman - and other whisky; decent wines, especially red ones from Spain like Valdelana or white ones like Riesling from Germany; sherry like Lustau's Pedro Ximénez; schnaps, especially made of rowan berries or blackthorn; espresso; self made fruit juice; beer from breweries like Vogelbräu, Berabecka Boandlbräu, Hinterhofbräu, Scherneck, Riegele, Feierling, Rothaus, basically every Zoigl of the Oberpfalz region in Bavaria etc. etc.)
- Badminton (I'm also a low level coach)
- football (more watching than playing myself, unfortunately, time reasons)
- cycling around in the local countryside
- jogging
- hiking (going up hills in the Austrian or German Alpes: the weather, the feeling, the air, the view)
- travelling, especially visiting friends in other places
- reading (I'm hosting a sort of a cooking and reading club where we deal with everything, from graphic novels to children's books, from basic poetry to nobel prize winners)
- listening to music (especially post rock, prog rock, neo folk, metal), going to concerts
- watching movies (favourites being e. g. "Aguirre - the Wrath of God" by Werner Herzog, "The Beautiful Troublemaker" by Jacques Rivette, "Before Sunrise" by Richard Linklater, "Dellamorte Dellamore" by Michele Soavi, "God Bless America" by Bobcat Goldthwait, "The Great Silence" by Sergio Corbucci, "Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer" by John MacNaughton, "My Life Without Me" by Isabel Coixet, "A Tale of Two Sisters" by Kim Jee-woon or "The Wages of Fear" by Henri-Georges Clouzot)
- going to the theatre, especially smaller stages
- visiting museums, especially with impressionist paintings
- sauna: doing nothing, sweating and feeling your body in the heat
- just being together with family and friends, sharing the above with them

I'm not that much into animals (except strange stuff like olm or tarsier) as well as everything generally considered as cute, but any postcard will be very welcome. Especially nature, mountains from your country.
