HI!

My name is Claire. I work in the children's department at a public library and at a thrift store as well - surrounded by an eclectic mix of fashion and strange housewares. I'm the eldest of three crazy sisters, an avid reader, a yoga fanatic, a tea drinker, a runner, a photographer and a lover of art, words and the great outdoors.

I graduated high school this past June and am currently taking a year off school to explore, adventure and grow. I spent September-December in Mexico with a charity called Live Different. I worked alongside six other high school grads in a tiny community called Zapata, volunteering with local organizations, taking social justice classes and spending time with host families. We also built a house for a family in need and lived a week in the life of a Mexican migrant worker. I am going to spend the next few months working and saving up money to study at a college in France from April to June! Then I hope to attend McGill University in the fall to double major in International Development and psychology.

Thunder Bay has a population of about 110, 000. We're fairly isolated, but it's a great place to be if you love the outdoors. Hiking, downhill skiing and ice climbing are only a half hour drive away! It's on the shores of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world and is known for the Sleeping Giant - a 50 million tonne rock formation that looks like a resting giant when viewed from the city.
