About Mieke...

Hello!

I'm Mieke. 29 years old. I live with my two cats in the small town I was raised in. I work at a refugee center where I teach Dutch to adult refugees. In my free time I am a volunteer at a youth club. I enjoy cooking, reading, hanging out with my family, friends or cats, taking care of my plants and garden, pub quizzes, board games, riding my motorcycle, watching movies and camping. I am a vegetarian. I consider myself a feminist and an idealist.

One of my favourite parts of the Postcrossing process is this: when I get to send multiple cards at once, I always request one address, read the profile, write the card and then request the next address. There are always a few numbers in between the Postcard ID's that I receive that way, meaning there are other Dutch Postcrossers requesting addresses and writing cards at the very same time. It feels wholesome and connected :)

I was an active Postcrosser from 2013-2015, but then I quit. Now (April 2020, in the midst of a pandemic) seems like a great time to get back into it.
Cards I would enjoy in particular:
- outdoor living / camping / campfires
- cats, but not the cute kittens (I like beautiful, funny, interesting or cartoon cats)
- intriguing / weird portraits or photographs
- bikes, people cycling, vintage motorcycles
- mailboxes and people posting something
- (vegetarian) food
- extravagant people
- colourful postcards (preferably no children's cartoons)
- lgbtq community / pride parades
- books and bookshelves
- tea
- erotica / fetish
- rain and umbrellas
- motivational quotes or philosophical sayings
- poetry
- music festivals / people playing music
- feminism / activism
- piano
- starry nights, the universe
- libra (the Zodiac sign)
- creative, handmade cards
- culture, tradition
- cool ad cards
- birthday cards in September
- check out the cards in my 'favourites' section, then you'll get a sense of what sort of cards I like. (My 'favourites' are a mix of cards I've received and cards I found on other profiles. I don't mind receiving a card from my favourites twice.)

Cards with cute baby animals on them or multi view postcards are not my favourites.

The back of the card with your written message is more important to me than the front. This is how you create a unique and personal postcard! Here are some things I would like to read:
- what do you know and think of my country, the Netherlands?
- fun facts about you or your country / hometown
- the most special place you've ever been
- what is on your bucketlist?

Love,
Mieke
