About Marieke...

Hi there!!!

Thank you for reading my profile!

My name is Marieke, married to Serge and mother to Floris,
I used to live with cats, but about two years ago Abby, our Chihuahua, came to live with us. He is such a wonderful dog.

I work as a nurse in a mental hospital for over 25 years. I love working with people and helping them to get grip on their lives again.

I love to travel, my favorite destinations are NYC and Japan.
On my trips I like to try local food and drinks, visit museums and themeparks, I rode more than 200 rollercoasters in the world) and try to capture the culture.

My favorite time of year is Christmas. I've collected ornaments from all my travels, so decorating our tree is a trip to memory lane. I love it!

When it comes to music; I'm a bit stuck in the Eighties... Prince, Duran Duran, Prince, Simple Minds, Fleetwood Mac, but mostly I love music from all decades. Music is important to me, it touches my soul, helps me when I am feeling down.

I like painting rocks and leave them for others to find.
When it comes to art, I love Art Deco and Jugendstil.
Friends are important to me. I like spending time with them.

I fell in love with Postcrossing in January of 2011. The process of finding the right card for that other person, is so great. To me it is, anyway :-) I try to make each card as personal as possible and when someone else does the same for me, I am so happy! Shopping for new cards became a new hobby...or must I say an addiction? :-)
And even though I am not as fanatic anymore as in the beginning, I still love connecting to other people trough mail.

If you still wonder what kind of card you should pick for me, here are some suggestions.... :)

* Old affiches, Jugendstil, Rousseau...
* Cards with many different things on it that are representative of your country
* Royalty or presidents of your country
* Black and white/cards with celebs
* Eighties (music, series, clothing, movies etc)
* Nicolas Cage, Duran Duran, Miami Vice
* USA retro "State" cards, map cards, NYC, cardinal-bird, JFK
* Cards with the recipe on it of a regional or national dish/treat
* Traditional clothing from your country
* Cards with a peacock on it ❤❤

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
BUT MOSTLY
Just send me a card YOU would like to receive yourself and tell me why you like it so much. I would like to get to know YOU!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A postcrosser wrote this and I think it's so true:
“It's not about getting and collecting cards - it's about sharing a part of yourself with the world. Influencing people and leaving your mark in a place you may never visit. It's about connecting. It's about putting a smile on a face you'll never meet.
It makes my day better."

I like my cards handwritten and stamped...and >>without an envelope<<; I like to see the journey of the card.

I am looking forward to receive and read your card!!!!

Happy Postcrossing!
