About Marieke...

Hi there!!!

Thank you for reading my profile!

My name is Marieke,
Mother of Floris, married to Serge and quite happy with my life.

I recently changed jobs after 24 years working as a nurse in a mental hospital. It was time for a change, so now I work as a nurse in a home for the elderly. I love working with people.

I love to travel, my favorite destinations are NYC and Japan.
On my trips I like to try local food and drinks, visit themeparks (I am quite a nerd in that area, I rode more than 200 rollercoasters in the world) and try to capture the culture.

I love cats. Even though my beloved Muffin is not with me anymore for many years, I still miss him dearly. Recently we welcomed a dog in our family; he is a Chihuahua and is named Abby.

My favorite season is winter; not of the snow, but because of Christmas. I've collected ornaments from all my travels, so decorating our tree is a trip to memory lane. I love it!

When it comes to music; I'm a bit stuck in the Eighties... Prince, Duran Duran, Simple Minds, Fleetwood Mac, but mostly I love music from all decades. Music is important to me, it touches my soul.

I fell in love with Postcrossing in January of 2011. The process of finding the right card for that other person, is so great. To me it is, anyway :-) I try to make each card as personal as possible and when someone else does the same for me, I am so happy! Shopping for new cards became a new hobby...or must I say an addiction? :-)
And even though I am not as fanatic anymore as in the beginning, I still love connecting to other people trough mail.
Especially in these strange and confusing times, as Covid is around us.

If you still wonder what kind of card you should pick for me, here are some suggestions.... :)

* Cats...
* Old affiches, Jugendstil, Rousseau...
* Royalty or presidents of your country
* Black and white cards with celebs
* Eighties (music, series, clothing, movies etc)
* USA retro "State" cards, map cards, NYC, cardinal-bird, JFK
* Cards with the recipe on it of a regional or national dish/treat
* Traditional clothing from your country

Just send a card YOU would like to receive yourself and tell me why you like it so much. I would like to get to know YOU!

I like my cards handwritten and stamped...and without an envelope; I like to see the journey of the card.

I am looking forward to receive and read your card!!!!

Happy Postcrossing!

Stay safe, warm wishes, Marieke
