About Mariya...

Hello, my name is Mariya and I am a medical student. I'm only in my first year and I'm starting to delve deeper into medicine.

In addition to medicine, I like to study the biographies of maniacs, especially Russian ones. I don’t even know how to explain this hobby, just a scientific interest in how the brain can work, what motivations a person has, why he started doing this, and so on. Even for some time I wanted to study to become a psychiatrist, but I like working more with the human body. Well maybe that's it for now :)

In my free time from studying (on holidays) I really like to knit. Of course, this requires a lot of time and it is impossible to combine it with studying. When I was very bored, I learned to sew on an old Soviet sewing machine that I got from my great-grandmother.

I also like to read classics. I won’t say that I read a lot of things, because I’m very picky. The last thing I read was “Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Bronte, “A Night in Lisbon”, “All Quiet on the Western Front” by Erich Maria Remarque, “The Thorn Birds” by Colleen McCullough. Yes, I read different genres. I also read Russian classics, such as “Fathers and Sons”, “Dead Souls”, “Crime and Punishment” and so on.

Well, I need to tell you about my country. Belarus is an incredibly beautiful country. You should have seen the nature, architecture and wonderful people here. To convey all the beauty, you need to come to regional cities and villages, then you can feel the whole mentality. Grandmothers with delicious pancakes from the oven, huge fields with cows, horseback riding - this is my outlet. I love my hometown very much. It is small, but combines both high-rise buildings and small wooden houses. I know our capital – Minsk – very well. There are many cultural monuments, parks, and interesting places for walks. This can be said about absolutely any city in Belarus. But Grodno is a particularly beautiful, ancient and wonderful big city for me. I recommend starting your travels around Belarus from this city. I can talk a lot about my country, because it is truly beautiful.
As you can understand from the previous paragraph, I really love traveling. I have been to Poland, Russia, Georgia, Lithuania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Austria, Romania, Hungary. Yes, the list is quite small. I want to learn more about countries, about their cultures, about people, and in the future I want to visit all possible countries. If you write me a card, tell me about whatever you want: about your country, hobbies, huge family, work.

I hope you liked my little story, thank you ;)

if you send me a postcard, write to me about your life, about interesting events, about your homeland/city in which you currently live, about your day and experiences. I will be very glad to know more about yours ;)
For me, the letter is the main part of the card.

Be sure to write the date, name, city and country from where you are sending.
