About Máren-Elle...

Hi you!

I'm a 21-yeard-old Saami student who lives in Finland. The Saami people are indigineous people of four countries: Finland, Norway, Sweden and Russia. I study Saami culture in the local university.

Food is my great passion. I could keep talking about it for hours after hours (and that's basically all I do!). My favourite dishes are creamy pastas and potato wedges with garlic dip. I prefer salty treats over sweets - crisps are my favourite! I consider myself as a beer 'n' crisps -vegan: that's a Finnish term for vegans who challenge the image of healthy-eating vegans.

Besides eating, I enjoy reading. I'm interested in people and relationships so I look for books dealing with those topics. My favourite author is Torey Hayden, an American special education teacher. Her books always make me cry and after finishing a book from her, I feel like I have both lost and restored my faith in humanity. Another author who makes me feel the same is Khaled Hossein

Small things make me smile so I don't need much to be happy. The small things can be babies smiling at me on the bus, chatting with a stranger, seeing a lecturer being really passionate about what they're teaching or listening to my partner talking in her sleep.

As I'm interested in people and like to look for small things, I would like to hear what you're interested and what makes you smile. Please tell me little about yourself, how have you felt the day you write me a postcard, what is your favourite dish, what makes you cry. You could also tell me what is the most beautiful thing in your country. Tell me anything you find important!

I'm looking forward to receive your postcard!
