About Joshua...

"I consider it a good rule for letter-writing to leave unmentioned what the recipient already knows, and instead tell him something new." - Sigmund Freud

Dear random Postcrosser,

The sender of a postcard via Postcrossing intitially does not know anything about the recipient, nor does the recipient know anything about the sender. The fact that the recipient gets to know something new about some random person living in some random part of the world makes Postcrossing as exciting as it is.

As this kind of contact tends to be onesided, I want to give you the chance to learn something new about me!
My name is Joshua, I'm 18 years old and I live in Munich, a big German city typically known among tourists for its Octoberfest, its Bavarian beer, its White Sausages and its "Lederhose" (traditional pants made of leather). In fact, I despise the Octoberfest because of the enormous crowds of drunk visitors every year, I don't like the taste of Bavarian beer, don't own or wear a "Lederhose" and hardly ever eat White Sausages. Actually, one half of me is American since my mother is from New York City, the other half (my father's side of the family) is German.
Currently, I am in 12th grade, my last year of high school, which I will finish in 2014 after my final exams. Then I'll proceed to university.
If I'm not at school or writing postcards, I enjoy singing (solo and choir), travelling (and also planning and organizing all kinds of trips ;-) ), meeting and talking with friends and editing the school newspaper. Furthermore, I am quite involved in terre des hommes, a Child Rights Organization supporting children in need with projects in more than 30 countries (www.tdh.de/wir-ueber-uns/information-in-english.html). Within the last five years of my work for terre des hommes, I have have been able to make many new friends and learn about various cultures and the problems children face in other countries and continents.

If you are interested in learning even more about the recipient of your postcard (= me ;-) ) or want to keep up contact beyond Postcrossing, feel free to send me a message!

Now, I am very much looking forward to reading something about YOU on the postcard I am going to receive from you. Tell me something about your life, your home town, your country, your family, your interests, your wishes, your ambitions and anything else you are able to fit onto the limited space of a postcard. Please write in English or German.
Speaking of postcards: Especially, I like cards showing views of sights, places or landscape in your region (with explanation in the text, please :-) ), of trains or any other motif you think might interest me.
Although I don't collect them, I enjoy receiving nice postage stamps on the postcards. :-)

I hope to hear from you by mail - happy Postcrossing!!!
Joshua
