About Licínia...

Hi!
I'm Licínia and I'm posting my cards from the sunny Algarve region, located in southern continental Portugal. I live in the rural outskirts of the region's capital city, where days are quieter and closer to Nature.

In my free time, I go for walks with my dogs, I knit, I care for my plants, I draw, I read, I care for my home, I listen to music (lately, it's been mostly jazz), I do crossfit, and I'm considering picking up classes to learn how to play an instrument... Depends if I can find the time for it! I love to travel: I'll do it alone if I have to, but I much rather have the company of my partner, family and friends. Whenever the chance arises, I get on my car and I'll go to visit other places in our beautifully small country.

Currently, I'm reading "The Plains of Passage", by Jean M. Auel. While I enjoy music very much and I'm able to listen to almost every genre, I have to say that I'm not very up to date on what the latest trends are. I'm not a big cinema consumer, but I have a penchant for animation movies. My favourite food is cheese: it would break my heart if I could never eat it again.

I'm a monitor at a local science communication and outreach centre.

I consider my biggest achievements so far the ones where I have willingly exerted myself physically and managed to rise up to the challenge: cycling the perimeter of the Algarve region (slightly over 600km) in 12 consecutive days during the scorching month of August was definitely the highlight, but I wouldn't do it again! However, it is in my plans to cycle across the country from Faro to Chaves, in a 738.5km route going from South to North of mainland Portugal on the historical EN2 way. When will I do this? I have no idea!

I draw inspiration from many things, situations, places and persons, even unexpected ones. In fact, the list is too long to mention it in such limited space... Perhaps, you might get a glimpse of what inspires me through the postcards I send.

The simple pleasures of everyday life make me smile: a bright sunny morning, almond trees in bloom, finding a rusty old horseshoe on my path, an almost empty beach, happy folks walking their pets, butter on freshly baked bread, stubborn sparrows returning every night to sleep under my front porch, watching kids colouring their books, gifting a knitted hat, cuddling with my partner, a clear starry night... The older I get, the less time I want to waste.

I laugh at witty comments and at people making a fool of themselves: they deserve it, especially if they can't get over themselves.

So there you go, this is me. Hit me with the best postcard you can find. I dare you!

I usually send vintage postcards: I like going to the local flea markets and I buy old unused postcards whenever I find them. Some are old enough to be a true historical document, showing views and things that have changed a lot or simply don't exist anymore. I hope my fellow postcrossers enjoy getting them as much I enjoy finding and sending them.
