About Shelley...

Hello World!
My name is Shelley and I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada.
I am a wife, a mom of two daughters and a son, grateful stepmom to three more lovely daughters, a Grandma to four little souls, a teacher, a sister, an auntie, a cousin, a mentor and a friend to many in my own world but am always seeking out new ideas and new friends to gather into my circle.
I am extremely passionate about kids and family. I believe that kids are the single most precious creatures and devote my life to helping make those little lives safe, healthy and joyful. I don't care how a family is comprised, I just believe that as long as there is a group of humans that love each other a family is born and should be supported and celebrated.
It is my belief that constant, intentional connection and interaction is the only tool strong enough to save humanity from disaster. I love conversation and good coffee, chocolate and anything I can grow in my own garden. If you were to come over to my home I would offer you freshly baked cookies and serve you fragrant, delicious coffee so we could sit and learn from each other and share a bit of our lives. I wish that I had a front porch and the world felt compelled to just come and sit with me and talk.
I strongly believe in Social Justice and strive to find ways to pay forward all the love and personal success I have been able to gather. I stuggle with the task of giving enough of myself to the world, and feel a great responsibility to make the lives of my fellow planet dwellers better. I would love to hear of the ways that you reach out to others, in the hopes that I can use some of your ideas to touch the lives of people in my own home cityas well as the larger world around me. I believe we need to start close, where we live if we are to make change that will truly strengthen all of humanity.
I am a seeker on the path to enlightenment, a learner in every way that word is possible and hope I convey a generous spirit open to others.
My favorite pastime has always been reading. I love books and words, ideas and new ways of thinking. I learned to read when I was 4 and have had a book within reach ever since. I would love to know which books have made an impact on others lives and will share some of my favorites with those new friends that are interested.

I am very excited about this project and hope to gather wisdom and insight from my fellow travellers.
