About GOVENDAD...

(My apology to Postcrossers who wrote to me in email. I had problems with my former email account. Now I have opened a new account and no longer bothered by the problems.)

Glad to be here! I've just registered to become a Postcrosser, but I'm no stranger to Postcrossing because we once had an active Postcrosser in the family. My son is forced to quit Postcrossing, for a year or two, because he is now a hectic high school student preparing for an important college entrance exam.

I'm a newly retired college teacher. I used to encourage my students to be a lifelong learner. Now that I'm retired, I want to be a student again. Learning something new gives my life a purpose. I'm interested in geography and maps. I enjoy exploring foreign cities and pastoral scenery on Google Map. I mark places I love on Google Map with the hope that I may visit them some day. We are a family of traveling lovers. We try our best to visit foreign cities twice a year. My wife and I think that's the greatest gift we can give our children (two sons).

I love all 'beautiful' postcards and stamps. I know 'beautiful' is a tricky word. I think I might as well make it more concrete for you as you make your choice. It would be delightful if I can find, in my mailbox, cards with-

Art nouveau
Atelier nouvelles images
Classic album sleeves
Classic Winnie-the-Pooh characters, (for my son).
Currencies (coins and paper money)
Humorous (you decide)
Landmarks
Maps
Peanuts characters, especially Snoopy, Charlie Brown and Woodstock (for my son)
Picture books illustration
Subway maps
UNESCO World Heritage Site

I'm interested in direct swap of postcards, so I can get to know a country, a city or a Postcrosser better. I'd like to tell people more about my country, too.

I'm a philatelist. I collect stamps from all over the world for fun. "Every Picture Tells a Story" is a song by the British rock singer Rod Stewart. For me, every stamp tells a story.

I'm also interested in direct swap of stamps. I have some stamps from dozens of countries to spare. My largest collection comes from Japan. My ambition is to collect stamps from every country in the world. Thanks to Postcrossers from around the world, my wanted list is getting short. The following are the remaining countries on my wanted list:

Angola, Armenia
Bahamas, Bahrain
Cape Verde, Cyprus
Dominican Republic
Eritrea
Georgia
Honduras
Iceland
kiribati
Lebanon, Liberia, Libya
Macedonia, Marshall Islands, Myanmar
Oman
Palau
Qatar
Samoa, Serbia, South Sudan
Timor Leste, Tonga
Uzbekistan
Zimbabwe

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you're interested in direct swap of postcards or stamps (or both).

Happy Postcrossing
