About Dale...

Hi, My name is Dale. Since my retirement from full-time work, I have spent my time travelling the world, spending summer time at our beach house, lots of embroidery (I belong to The Embroiderers' Guild and love counted work), reading (biographies, crime novels by Colin Forbes, Michael Connelly, Ed Bain, the Alphabet Murders), films, theatre (watching not participating). I love collecting cotton and silk fabric (she who dies with the most fabric, wins!) I work part time whenever there's a local Council, State or Federal Election. We seem to have at least one a year so the money helps pay for my holidays.

In January, Melbourne hosts the Australian Tennis Open. I am a Courtesy Car Driver and I get to drive all the famous tennis players, their family and friends, and other tennis VIPs.

While my avatar photo is not a good one of me, you must admit it is a beautiful one of the 2-month old tiger cub which I made friends with while on holidays with my 3 grandchildren in Chiang Mai, Thailand in June 2010. Look at the cub's blue eyes - "Why is this mad woman in a crazy hat kissing me?"

I believe:
. Every day should be fun; if you are not going to have fun, go back to bed!
. Boring women have immaculate homes; Housework can't kill you, but why take the chance
. I prefer my cat to most people I meet

I love sending and receiving postcards. Before digital cameras were invented (for those of you who are old enough to remember!), I would take a photo (or two) and then buy a postcard (or two) of the view so that if my photos didn't turn out, I could use the postcard(s) in my travel album. Yes, I have lots of old postcards in a shoebox!

My favourites are:
. views of your town or city
. scenery - landscapes, seascapes, mountains, lakes
. buildings - old, new, churches
. your country's flora and fauna
. in fact, anything. I would prefer to receive something that appeals to you and you can tell me what it is that you like about the card and why you picked it.

Happy postcrossing. I look forward to seeing postcards in my letterbox - I really look forward to the day when the postcards outnumber the bills and junk mail!
