About Jan...

My name is Jan Philipp. I'm 35 years old and live in a village in northern Germany near the border to Denmark. Something about this place, I like a lot, is the near to the sea. In the east we have the baltic sea and in the west the North sea. It's approximately 30 km in each direction for reaching the sea. I like to stay at the sea, go swimming at the beach and watch the waves. Since my childhood I'm amazed by the sea and the water.

I am an engineer in biotechnology and process engineering. In my free time I like to read, especially fantasy and science-fiction books. My favorite authors are Haruki Murakami, Douglas Adams and Sergej Lukianenko. I also put much interest in Alice from "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" and the Disney cartoon movie Alice in Wonderland (not the one with Johnny Depp made by Tim Burton, I didn't like that one). Did you know there ia this therory in biology called the Red Queen hypothesis derived from Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking Glass"?

In addition I like to read mangas and watch animes. Some of them are Dragonball, Bleach, One Piece, Bakemonogatari, Citrus or Violet Evergarden. But there are more I loved to see like the work of studio Ghibli. I'm interested in cosplay and admire beautiful costumes but never managed to do one on my own. Additionally I really like to play video games especially with a good story. Two games I really liked are Bioshock Infinite and Life Is Strange. They tell a deep story, you can experience the suffering within the characters. That's what good games should be like. There are also some good TV shows, which I like to watch. For instance: Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, The X-Files or Jessica Jones. I still fancy the TV show "Roswell" that aired from 1999 - 2002. So by chance if you live in Roswell, New Mexico or in the region and read this I would be thankful to receive something Roswell inspired, you know the incident in 1947.

A few places I have visited, besides other parts of Germany, are London in Great Britain, Oslo in Norway, Prague in Czech Republic, Copenhagen in Denmark, Ukraine and Myanmar. I would really like to travel a lot. Therefore I would like to hear and see some places from you. Please tell me something about yourself or your country, the place you live or the places I have to see. Do you have a typical food I have to try? Please let me know. I'm looking forward to receive your postcards.
Thank you for reading! All postcards are welcome!

Happy Postcrossing!
