A Susan Seddon Boulet Bestiary The HALCYON was named for Alcyone, daughter of Aeolus, god of the wind. Grieving for her drowned husband, Alcyone attempted to drown herself as well. But before entering the water she transformed into a bird. Te gods pitied her and changed her husband into a living bird also. |
