Voyageurs National Park was established in 1975 to protect this Minnesota treasure. It is the 37th among America's 59 National Parks. With 4 major lakes and over 900 islands, this park was meant to be explored by boat, ideally a canoe. Lying in the southern part of the Canadian Shield, Voyageurs contains some of the oldest exposed rock formations in the world. In early summer and you'll likely see orchids, loon chicks, eaglets and river otters.
