Postcard TW-3269586

This is a great depiction of the oldest post office in Taiwan, Taipei Beimen Post Office, although I am a bit curious about the inclusion of the bird's head. Was it the original symbol for the Taiwanese postal service? Incidentally, the stamp and postmark were covered to protect them while the card was in transit. I'm very grateful for the sender's thoughtfulness in doing this.
