Pena Palace at Sintra (located in the outskirts of Lisbon).
This 19th century palace was built in a mix of revival styles (neo-gothic, neo-arab, neo-manueline [Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon is probably THE epitome of the original manueline decorative style]).
It stands at 500mt high overlooking the ocean in one side;
Sintra was classified UNESCO cultural landscape in the 90's;
Many famous personalities have visited this town: Lord Byron, Hans Christian Andersen, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Glauber Rocha;
"The Ninth Gate" (1999) with Johnny Depp was partially shot at one of Sintra's mannor houses (chalet Biester)
