The Porta Nigra, the emblem of Trier, is the best-preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps, and is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. The Romans built it in the 2nd century using approximately 7200 blocks of stone, and has been preserved until today thanks to its solid construction. One can climb to the top for great view over the city. |
