Ahrensburg Castle is one of the Renaissance gems of northern Germany. It was built in 1595 by Daniel Rantzau - general of the King of Denmark. Acquired in 1759 by Heinrich Carl von Schimmelmann, it was remodelled in the baroque tastes of the day.
