Heidelberg by the Neckar River

Baroque old town with red sandstone buildings topped by the Heidelberg Castle (site from the 13th century, often expanded).
From the 14th century until 1720, the residence of the palatine counts; 1688-1689 conquered by the French and destroyed. The "Old Bridge" built in 1787.
