The Stone Bridge (national cultural monument) is the pride of the royal city of Pisek, the oldest surviving bridge in the Czech Republic. In Central Europe, only Regensburg in Bavaria is older. According to legend, the bridge is also called the Oleny Bridge. After its construction, the residents could not come up with a name for it and decided to name the bridge after the first person to walk across it. However, to everyone's surprise, it was a deer from the nearby forest. |
