Swampy Plain River, Kosciuszko National Park, NSW "The Australian Alps alpine region is a picturesque and diverse area covering around 1.6 million hectares stretching from Canberra (ACT), through southern NSW and along the Great Dividing Range in eastern Victoria. The area is national-heritage-listed and includes 11 national parks and nature reserves containing plant and animal life found nowhere else in Australia and occasionally, the world. Environments include fern-filled forests, Snow Gum woodland, cirque lakes and alpine meadows. Increadible landforms created by ancient glaciers and a range of rock types can also be found with a geological history spanning hundreds of millions of years. In addition many of the region's waterways are used in generation of electricity, irrigation and domestic water supply, including the Snowy River."
