Swimming between the red and yellow flags is important in Australia - a country where the beach and surf is loved but the beauty of the waves can hide deadly rips. The Surf Lifesavers are volunteers who patrol red and yellow flagged beaches and save many lives. This stamp and maxicard series was issued in 1994 to celebrate 100 years of surf lifesaving in Australia.
